Utah Senate panel OKs Robles immigration bill
Deseret News ^ | February 23, 2011

SALT LAKE CITY — An illegal immigration proposal hyped as a solution reflective of Utah culture narrowly advanced from a Senate committee Wednesday. Bill sponsor, Sen. Luz Robles, D-Salt Lake, said her plan for accountability and state-issued work permits would "bring some order to chaos created by the federal government" in not addressing the issue.

Despite reservations about SB60, members of the Senate Judiciary, Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Committee voted 3-2 to send it to the full Senate for further debate. Senate President Michael Waddoups, R-Taylorsville, cast one of the dissenting votes...

Robles' measure would require undocumented immigrants of working age to register for an "accountability card" every two years. Applicants would undergo a criminal background check. The card, which would include a photo, would be for work purposes only and not valid for identification. Card holders would also have to pass an English proficiency test within a year. All costs would be borne by the individual. The Utah Department of Public Safety would run the program and maintain a database of applicants, according to the bill...

Why is the Deseret News pimping this? The bill, introduced by a member of the Utah Senate who is also an agent of the Mexican government, would grant work permits to illegal immigrants. In other news another attempt to eliminate in-state tuition for illegals in Utah just failed.

Hispanic population in Utah increased 78% between 2000 and 2010. Using simple math it’s easy to see that the Mormon empire will be toast within a few decades if they continue to embrace illegals. (And i thought Mormons were smarter than that)

Accountability card? This is just another way to legalize the status of illegal aliens. They should be deported, not documented. Utah also issues illegals drivers licenses.

Isaiah 3:12 “[As for] my people, children [are] their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause [thee] to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.”

No kidding? In any event many of the politicians in Utah were born and raised in the far more liberal Salt Lake area. They are NOT indicative of the rest of the state. It’s like saying Nevada is liberal because of those in Clark County (where I’m from), or that Pennsylvannia is liberal because of Philadelphia. The fact is that Utah is not liberal, or illegal immigrant friendly, however, some of the pols are. Last year, one of the state workers, with a partner (coworker), exposed THOUSANDS of illegals on the dole. They were fired and facing prosecution, and the Politicians, to the outrage of the citizenry apologized to the illegals and stated no investigations would be made. A lot of people are very upset, and the actions of this Mexican Official masquerading as a Utah Politician shoudl not be seen as the condoning of illegal immigrants.

In my county there are constant letters to the editor about illegals, and calls to ICE over the illegals, but they are not raided and deported (though 2 factories were under Bush, repeatedly, none under Obama). The problem is at all levels of Government the people are being swindled and looted, not that the people condone such actions.

“Utah also issues illegals drivers licenses.”

Back that statement up. It’s not true. Also, there were deportations under Bush, but none since Obama has taken office. Below is criteria for obtaining a license, which Obama himself couldn’t do because it requires a Birth Certificate to be presented and scanned.

http://publicsafety.utah.gov/dld/

LAW CHANGES:

Effective January 1, 2010, Utah Driver License Division has big changes that affect EVERYONE:

ALL applicants are required to provide the following when needing a duplicate (including applying for an endorsement), applying for an original or renewing a Utah Driver License, Utah Driving Privilege Card, or Utah Identification Card:

*Proof of identity (state certified birth certificate in English or accompanied by a translated copy if in another language) by showing evidence of original or copies certified by the issuing agency;

*Proof of social security number or ITIN;
*If address is different than the address on your current Utah record, you will need to provide two proofs of Utah residence address (not more than 60 days old);

*Proof of legal/lawful presence; and

*Evidence of name change, if applicable

One can use a passport instead of BC.

You got me, I forgot he had his tampered with passport. Good catch. However, you’re supposed to have a BC to get one of those, so, go figure.

The thing these days, if the gov doesn't do it then nobody does it. They won't allow private citizens to deal with the problems that the gov refuses to fix.

Too bad Utah licenses already issued to many thousands of illegals are good for 5 years.

And will the illegals be able to do the 5 year license renewal without providing the documents you mention?

Feb 17, 2011--States Revise Rules on Driver's Licenses for Illegal Immigrants as National ID Approaches

"The last three states to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses -- Washington, New Mexico and Utah -- are now steeped in battles to revise their laws as a federal deadline approaches for all 50 states to issue identity cards that meet a new national standard."

"In Utah, which last year became the only state to offer a special class of driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, the Republican-controlled Senate is considering a bill that would eliminate the state's driving privilege card by the end of the year. The card, which doesn't allow people to board a plane, get a job or buy alcohol, is held by nearly 42,000 illegal immigrants since the statehouse established the option six years ago largely to provide a way for non-citizens to obtain auto insurance."

This article was written ten days ago. What has changed? What has happened to the 42,000 cards already issued?

That’s because, in theory, the people are supposed to be the Government, not the autocrats that we now have in office, in all levels of government. These Sanctuary cities, among other things, show that the U.S. Government isn’t interested in the Rule of law, because they want a dictatorship, with tens of thousands of laws to fit every citizen (the average violates 3 felonies a day, without knowing the loosely interpreted laws that could be charged against them), and then to prosecute and take political prisoners using their whim.

Thus, we have a broken system, which I believe, was forseen by the Founding Fathers (based on logic, not explicit historical document, though Jefferson alluded to it). I think the Founding Fathers specifically gave us a loos enough Government to allow for the rise of despotism and tyranny over an apathetic public (which would happen anyway), but with the freedoms of the first and second amendments so ingrained in culture that we wouldn’t lose our tools to fight them, before having a chance to wake up.

Thus, being thusly armed (figuratively and literally), the people would be able to throw of despotism if they ever cared enough to do so, but whichever method necessary. The second amendment is the last line of defense, but not the only one, still people have to be awake to aptly use either. Many are coming around, but things will get a lot worse before they get better. It takes an entire new generation to revert the brainwashing process, and I think we’re just starting to see that now. Ironically, it may take an entire collapse financially, to end the public education indoctrination camps that enable children to have a chance in this brainwashed, media driven society. My two cents.

According to the law, it applies to renewals as well.

I have to admit, that prior to your post, I had never seen the article referring to what you were stating. I will, however, content that despite your article which doesn’t give the criteria, only making a claim, I disagree, still. A driving priviledge card is common in other countries as well. Say, for example you go to another country, and want to drive, but have to government issued ID. They wouldn;t give you the same government issued ID as their citizenry, but you would be issued a driving priviledge card/form if you met their criteria.

That having been said, here is the criteria for the special priviledge card. The copy and paste doesn’t retain the hyperlinks for identity, but if you were to click on it (I did), it still requires the same identity requirements I posted, as of January 2010. Below is the link, and the requirements.

http://publicsafety.utah.gov/dld/drivingprivilegecard.html

NOTE: Effective January 1, 2010 the requirements for obtaining and renewing a driving privilege card have changed due to changes in legislation. Please click here (English) or (Spanish) for a printable brochure for more information on what will be required to obtain and renew your DPC.

A person who would need to obtain a Utah Driving Privilege Card (DPC) would be:

-Individuals who are unable to establish legal/lawful presence and who are ineligible for a US Social Security Number. They must obtain an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) from the Internal Revenue Service. Their DPC would expire on their birth date in the first year from the date the card was issued or renewed.

-Individuals meeting these requirements would not be eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver License or Identification Card.

Requirements to be elgible for a DPC are:

*You have to reside in Utah for a period of six months or more;
*Cannot be temporarily assigned to Utah by an employer, religious organization, or government agency;
*You are required to obtain a Utah learner permit or DPC in order to legally drive while here in Utah. The valid DPC allows the holder to operate a motor vehicle in Utah, but may not be used as a means of identification by any Utah government entities;

Documents required to obtain a DPC are:

*Evidence of a driving privilege issued in another state or country or evidence of completion of a course in driver training;
*2 proofs of Utah residency;
*Evidence of social security number or Individual Tax *Identification Number (ITIN);
*Evidence of Identity
