OK. The food wasn’t kosher but there was a lot of it.

(And here I was always under the impression that Jesus and the New Testament kinda supplanted most of the more esoteric ones of the OT......or at least thats what the nuns told me.)
Don't listen to nuns. Listen to Jesus:
Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the Law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-19
BTW, nowhere in the Bible does it say that women should not wear red.

Drink your own urine, it won't kill you. Do you drink it with cream and sugar?
Do you just drink yours?
So many questions and so few piss drinkers on FR to ask.

Man cannot limit God in any way, including the basic definition of same. You just did. /irony
I was going to point that out as well - thanks.
In saying that you cannot define God, he just did.

Shoveling smoke and arguing religion are equally tedious.
Just realize that there are about 100,000 definitions of God, and all are devoutly worshipped by their believers, and all are different.
And all are correct, including yours.

As I noted on the other thread, the issue wasn't simply the ham, but the fact that the airline advertised the availability of Kosher meals.
The airline claims to take pride in its inclusion of kosher food on the journey which was was introduced only in November. But Jewish passengers were forced to go hungry for four and a half hours because the wrong meals were taken on board.
A month before the launch, they presented a special kosher menu, which included egg mayonnaise and tomato sandwiches, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, mozzarella and tomato Panini, and a muffin or chocolate orange mini cake

Who was quoted that was furious? No one. The Jewish passengers were not furious. Ridiculous title that makes it like Jews are on a hair trigger over getting their kosher food. Correct. Also note post 66. The airline advertised Kosher meals, through an error didn't provide them.

Impossible. Seeing that the biblical "definition" is exclusive, it cannot be "correct" and the all others equally "correct."
Face it, universalism only works if everyone is a universalist.

...universalists..Religion is a matter of choice. Existing in the universe is not. Everyone is a universalist, like it or not...
As always, religious posts should not included in the news/activism thread. Nothing can, or is ever, proved about any of it.
My error in even commenting on how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

There is no prohibition against trimming one’s beard and even shaving is permitted provided that the blade does not touch the skin. This is why many very orthodox Jews, including yours truly, use electric shavers that keep a foil or other type of screen between the cutting blades and the skin.
I am a bit surprised by FReepers sort of telling Jewish people to “get over it” about eating pork. These are very serious religious obligations for observant Jews. I wouldn’t think of making light of lenten practices or other christian observances, if only out of respect for the people of faith who take these matters to heart. I also support the right of christians to have christmas trees and other public displays and I would never think of telling them to just get over it when the libs attack these things.
I think we should treat each other with more respect and that’s why I object to these comments.

Wow! What you are saying is really obnoxious. You are saying nothing less than Jews who observe the dietary laws are engaged in superstitious nonsense.
I don’t know if you observe any faith, but I would find it hard to imagine that you would say the same about the wine and wafer used in christian services or again that refraining from certain food s for lent is superstitious nonsense. How about Christmas trees? What the heck is that? You think G-d cares if you have a stupid tree in your house? Of course, I’m just using this as a rhetorical device, because I simply have a decent respect for the faith of other people, excepting practices which are violent such as jihad or human sacrifice.
Again, I’m really disappointed to see this kind of disrespect on FR.

I used to be surprised. Now I see the same names come up in such intentionally inflammatory comments. Some FReepers are merely online anarchists. Some are under the impression that because they are on a crusade to defend Free Republic from bloggers, they automatically get a pass on behaving like civilized human beings.

It didn't help that the only light reading they had on the flight was a leaflet called, "Famous Jewish Sports Legends."

You are correct.
Also, the constant barrage of “wrap him in Pig skin for the burial” or “grease him Good with bacon grease” or if they have no ham, let them eat bacon” is offensive to Jews as well as Moslems.

It’s not like he was promoting it to Jews, now was he?
Unlike Muslims, that explode near pork, Jews have no problem with it as long as it’s not in their homes, kitchens, synagogues... or in their belly.

Both Jesus and his contemporary followers were Jewish. Furthermore, my comment was directed at the person I was replying to rather than to Jews in general.
