Inside the Muslim Brotherhood
Global Post ^ | Feb. 21, 2011 | Charles M. Sennott

CAIRO, Egypt — The historic events in Cairo's Tahrir Square were sparked by largely secular Egyptian youth who came together through social networking on Facebook.

Inspired by Tunisia, these young people lit a virtual brush fire on Jan. 25.

But according to Egyptian analysts and many young leaders of the revolution, it was the Muslim Brotherhood that quietly sustained the real fires of protest until they engulfed Egypt in an all-out revolution that would topple the corrupt and brutal 30-year reign of Hosni Mubarak.

The question now looms: What role will the Muslim Brotherhood — by far the largest and most-organized opposition group in Egypt — play in shaping the country's future? And how might the movement’s international chapters contribute as protests spread to Jordan, Algeria, Libya and elsewhere?

This has been airing as part of Frontline program on PBS.

Even as it entered the fray, the Muslim Brotherhood, an outlawed movement that for decades had learned to operate in the shadows, was intent on hiding its role in the 18 days of the Egyptian revolution.

Psst. It's called taqiyya

Mohamed Abbas, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s youth movement and a leader in the square who worked with secular counterparts in the early planning before Jan. 25, saw a young man flashing his pocket Koran with the Muslim Brotherhood symbol of two crossed swords before a FRONTLINE camera.

Abbas gently pushed the young man’s arm down and said, “For God’s sake, don’t hold up your Koran. Hold up an Egyptian flag. For God’s sake. That’s not for the media.”

...He explained that he told the young brother, “Don’t show the ideology to the press because this is so bad for this revolution.”

...Significantly, they also set up the first microphone and speaker tower, thus controlling the message in the square. They were doing all this without any public display that it was the Muslim Brotherhood.

These idiots are going to put themselves back in the 7th Century. They don’t produce a dam thing. They’ll go back to living in tents and riding camels. If it wasn’t for the modern world, they would be living there now. They bring no value to the world.

They bring no value to the world.

But - we're told we wouldnt have mathematics, agricultural farming, astronomy, public works or hospitals without them. Are we being lied to?

Just saying...

This is the name "Allah" in Arabic...

This the Muslim Brotherhood "two crossed sword" symbol...

And this is what John the Revelator saw on Patmos. What he saw in Greek (Koine) was "chi xi stigma" which has been translated as the number "666"...

Okay - that’s spooky right there. Could be.

In the article it talks about the MB as small groups instigating things. Just like the SDS (Ayers, Dohern, etc.) back in the 70’s. It took them 40 years, but see where they are now.

“Codex Vaticanus” from a Seventh Day Adventist website? This is why I stay off the religion forum. I'd have to spend three hours trying to translate each post into terms my undereducated 21 century Baptist brain could understand.

Aren’t they just a peace-loving group of kind, peaceful, tolerant men who just pray differently? They would nnnneeeeevvvveeeerrrrr hurt anyone or start killing Jews and Christians. They’re just misunderstood. It’s just a club in the religion of peace. They don’t plan to take over the Western World and convert it to a place where Jewish and Christian heads are sawed slowly from their bodies, with the whole event being videotaped and posted on the internet for others to enjoy while eating halal popcorn.

I just scooped a pic that has been around forever (pure coincidence that it came form the site you mention). As I understand it, the source is the actual Codex Vaticanus manuscript kept in the Vatican Library.

I heard an interview on NPR this morning with Gene Sharp, author of From Dictatorship to Democracy and The Politics of Nonviolent Action The article about him on NPR's website doesn't include the full interview. In the full interview there is a discussion about how the people planning the protests had his book and studied it, which gives us a better grasp of how long term the planning was going into this.

Thank you. It’s a good thing some of us monitor the NPR.
I found this article due to the Frontline program that has been airing on PBS. Some of the FReepers won’t go near either, but they have info — at times — the other alphabets don’t.
