Dems must have polled last night and found out they have no public support.

The problem is not with the Assembly, the problem is with the Senate.

Yes, but all dems will start to feel the heat, as more and more days pass, kids don’t return to school, and working parents have to miss work because the kids are at home...this will not end well at all for dem politicians if the keep this up.

Did the Democrats leave anyone behind to force quorum call? Can the Republicans just assert that they have a quorum unless someone in the Senate objects to it and forces the roll to be called?

Also another thread said that only some budget bills require a 2/3 quorum and the Republicans can pass a lot of things in a hurry if there are no Dems in the Senate to slow them down.

They need a 3/5 quorum for appropriations bills (meaning they need one democrat to make 20 present), but non-appropriations bills just need a majority quorum.

I think the Repubs are posturing, and using the Dem absence as an excuse to not actually pass anything which will piss off the unions. The Assembly should be careful to word the bill as a non-appropriations item, and send it to the Senate.

People should put pressure on the Repub senators to declare a quorum for non-fiscal bills and just start passing an agenda rapid-fire. Starting with making Wisc a right-to-work state, and passing Vermont-style no-license CCW.

That does sound like a good way to bring them back. Start voting on things like redistricting (if it does not require the 2/3 quorum), a firearms bill like that in Indiana, or others that hit them where it hurts.

This public temper tantrum will destroy the Democratic Party. In the end, the vast majority of working class tax payers are sick and tired of supporting a grossly overcompensated bunch of unionized public workers. They are supposed to be serving the public. The public is now beginning to understand how they have been hoodwinked by the Left.

LOL. I really like they way you think, PapaBear! Too bad you're not the senate majority leader. It would be fun to watch.

A Pew poll released last week found that among a slate of potential state level cuts, rolling back public workers' benefits was the most popular option. Fewer Republicans responded to this poll, too. Even democrats support government union cuts.
Republicans surveyed - 339
Democrats surveyed - 455
Independents surveyed - 511

Right! This is a beautiful opportunity. (Conservatives should war-game opportunities like this so we can take full advantage whenever something like this happens. Have bills written and waiting to be submitted for a vote quickly and all that.)

Good God, I HOPE you are right. This stunt the dems are pulling is so blatant, so in your face, so absolutely unimaginably corrupt, it HAS to hurt them. Then again... The American voter put O in the White House. Who can have ANY faith in the Amer. voter?

The opportunity is ENORMOUS!!!!! But I’m wagering a house, 2 darling children, an Eldorado, a firearms collection (including a really cool suppressed CZ75B), and a wonderful wife, that NOTHING is accomplished. NOTHING good is done, and NO GOOD BILLS are passed. Hell, I’d have passed 20 in the first day.

I agree. The democrats are demanding those who have scarified for generations sacrifice even more so the government employees don't have to give up their totally awesome benefits along with everyone else.

The American private sector had better wake up to the fact that the Left has made them little more than serfs to support the privileged government class!

Starting a Tea Party counter protest would be counter productive. The Democrats and the Unions are exposing themselves and turning off thousands of morons who vote Democrat because that's all they can spell. Let the Dems cut their own throats. Plenty of time to protest later after the damage is done. This is a freebee to the Tea Party.
