DEMINT STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT'S BUDGET

‘Our nation won’t win the future by repeating the mistakes of the past’

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, criticized the budget President Obama unveiled that includes $8.7 trillion in new spending proposals, $1.6 trillion in new taxes and raises the national debt by $13 trillion over 10 years.

“Our nation won’t win the future by repeating the mistakes of the past,” Sen. DeMint said. “The President has offered an unserious budget that ignores the warnings of his own bipartisan deficit commission and chooses political expediency over real leadership. As our country teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, the President’s budget would push us over the edge into generational debt.

“One-third of the President’s claimed ‘savings’ are tax increases so the Democrats can keep up their big-government spending plans. Instead of increasing Washington’s control over areas like education and transportation, we need to devolve these decisions back to the states. It’s time to change course, stop the wasteful Washington spending and begin making the hard decisions to save our nation from the coming fiscal crisis.”

President Obama’s budget would increase taxes by:

* Increasing taxes on oil, gas, and coal producers

* Increasing taxes on individuals making more than $200,000 per year and couples making more than $250,000 a year.

* Increasing the death tax

“These job-destroying tax increases have already been rejected by Congress and they will be rejected again,” said Sen. DeMint. “Americans want the government to cut spending, not tax them more to spend more.”

President Obama’s budget spending increases include:

* 12% increase at the Department of Energy

* 14% increase at the Department of Commerce

* 38% increase at the Department of Education

* 68% increase at the Department of Transportation

Shove this right back up Obama's rear end, Mr. DeMint.

All four of the cited Departments that are increasing burdens are Departments that should be TOTALLY DE-FUNDED and ABOLISHED.

* Increasing taxes on oil, gas, and coal producers

What a "brilliant" idea from a guy the media keeps telling us is always the smartest guy in the room. It would simultaneously raise the cost energy, increase inflation, increase unemployment, and the trade deficit, while most lilely generating less revenue for the government. First the cost of domestic energy production would be less competitive with foreign producers who wouldn't have to pay it. Those producers have to cut back productin, which means not hiring and laying off employees. Our trade deficit would increase as would the cost of energy. Since all goods are manufactured and transported with energy, that woule drive up the price of goods, ie. cause inflation. And since domestic production would go down, so would the taxes collected, probably by more than the amount of the increase.

Finally, with less energy being produced why exactly do we need to spend another 12% on the useless Department of Energy?

Yeah, Obama has moved to the center. The center of Lala Land.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

What irks me is that we probably spent million printing this garbage.

The Republican led House needs to send Obama a clear message: In the future, don't waste the paper. Post it on Twitter & we'll tweet you back.

I hope the Pubs now realize that to compromise with this President is to compromise with the craziest person in the asylum. This is surely the most irresponsible budget ever submitted by a President. Obama needs to be ignored by Congress & his vetoes overridden. Rats had better get off the Obama train wreck or they will become as rare as Giant Pandas in Arizona.

I am now more convinced that ever that increasing the debt limit is a very bad idea. It is the ONLY sure thing the Pubs have to stop the unquestionable insanity.

Mr. MENSA didn't realize that to get to “9” in the Roman Numeral system the “I” goes before the “X”.

Talking about the “no sex discrimination in universities” law then?

I guess I’d need some clarification. I understand that current practice has had ridiculous results, like requiring every college that has a men’s sport to also offer the same sport to women even if the men’s sport is nationally famous and hardly any women at the university want the female counterpart. I can’t see Sarah Palin as championing that kind of waste.

The Win the Future (WTF) campaign is now being called Seize the Future, for obvious reasons. They can’t even get their slogans right the first time around...I would say what fools these humans be, but I’m not 100% sure they are human.

Wasn't the point. Mr. Know-it-all makes a reference not knowing the proper presentation of the Roman Numeral.
