Texas Rep. Ron Paul has won the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2012 presidential preference straw poll of 3,742 activists, the chairman of the huge annual gathering of conservative activists announced on Saturday.
The poll, sponsored this year for the first time by The Washington Times, is seen as one of the earliest tests of grassroots popularity among the partys dominant conservative wing, and Mr. Paul, who ran unsuccessfully for the nomination in 2008, has traditionally done well in the CPAC voting.
The Republican lawmaker, long a favorite of the partys libertarian wing, took 30 percent of the votes cast, followed by Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 23 percent. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has said he will not be a candidate in 2012, and New Mexico former Gov. Gary Johnson tied for third, with 6 percent of the vote.

..for everything else, there is MasterCard..
I am glad to know that Ron Paul is from the government and he is here to help.
The key word here is “straw poll”........
For cripes sakes, this is the bazillionth thread about this tonight.
Crazy PAC marginalizes itself.
WOW!!! This is like the 30th post about the Losertarian from Texas trying to give the election to the donkeys.
Ron Paul gave a decent speech. But his followers are nuts.
NUTS!
>> Doctor Ron Paul is our Man!! and his son is the VP!!
Hmmm... pidgin English...
You ain’t *from* here, are ya, boy.
Wow. Hallow should remember this is a straw poll. This is akin to playing “spin the bottle” to pick who becomes the GOP candidate LOL
A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing......
You do know a straw poll means absolutely nothing; that Ron Paul won last time; and still he never got more than 4% in the primaries don't you?
So how does it feel to win a straw-poll jammed by a bunch of fudge-packers and college students useful idiots?
It's gonna be a BITCH when you come down from that high ....
It’s easy to win when you provide transportation and lodging for your groupies.
That is simply priceless.
Mary Jane and Abortions for all around!
Hey what else could Conservatives want than someone who supports
1) Isolationism in world relations
2) Legalization of some street drugs
3) Abortion
4) Thinks we were in Irag for “the oil”
>>Wow. Hallow should remember this is a straw poll. This is akin to playing spin the bottle to pick who becomes the GOP candidate LOL<<
I’ll play so long as I am sure the only other 2 players are Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann! ;) :)
Yikes! The Ron Paul crowd is out tonight! I’m outta here.
Palin quit her job. She is a loser. IT IS ALL DR.RON PAUL TO VICTORY!!! (And Rand Paul for VP) No more Mr.cry baby nice guy!!! Congratulations to Dr, Paul. Pay no attention to Donald Tramp. He is a cartoon!!
I am really curious though, how does he have time to do the CPAC thing when he has a show on Bravo- Drag Race?
Pissant, is that you?
That is ,of course, a slanderous false statement about Dr, Paul. During his vast medical career he delivered 4500 babies!! Does that sound like the “baby killer” you made up?
Get some FACTS!!
While I respect Ron Paul and his son Rand even to a larger degree I think the results of the CPAC straw poll is irrelevant. I remember Mitt winning it not so long ago. If Ron Paul were able to express himself and were more like his son Rand he’d cruise to the Presidency. The problem is that he has this tendency to say things that allow him to be cast in the blame America first crowd. I do agree with many of his ideas on foreign policy like closing bases, halting foreign aid, etc. If he stopped there I think that a vast majority of Americans would join him. I do wonder why he supports big govt PC efforts to integrate homosexuals into the military which includes funding RIT (Repeal Implementation Team) which is just a big inquisition team trying to root out and suppress anyone who disagrees. It seems if he were really a small govt type he’d say keep your mouth shut on your sexual preferences and do your job rather than supporting gay activism in the military.
Ping, looks like it may be a fun couple of years after all.
Anyone up for some wild shrimp and pork spam? I hear the shrimp boats are comin in..
Have you ever considered the fact that you are wrong?
To be such a loser, she sure is sucking the air out of the GOP room.
I thought it was 10,000 babies?
This happened during the last presidential election cycle. His disciples freeped straw polls and gamed other meaningless polls, then posted the results on this forum in order to artificially create the appearance of some kind of groundswell of support for him. Notice that it is the same freepers who spam the boards with artificial news. They are easy to spot, due to the fact that they seem to believe that by reverently referring to their Dear Leader as “Dr. Paul” they somehow elevate his stature in the eyes of non beleivers. It’s really kind of creepy. Be warned, his followers will deluge these boards with all kinds of nonsense about his popularity throughout the primaries up to the convention; and beware of their wrath if you question “Dear Leader.”
Heck, this one went back to the old school script (albeit he did forget his line) pointing out how many babies Ru Paul supposedly delivered looking for an excuse to catch a glimpse of.. well you know..
Ron Paul supporters back him because they think he’s the best candidate. They ignore all the polls, saying he can’t win. Its the same way with the Palinistas. Polls be damned
just because you deliver babies does NOT mean that you do not support the outlawing of abortion as a practice.
Also, anybody who thinks israel does not have a right to live in peace in the land of Israel has suspect creditials in my book when it comes to morals
A lot of abortion providers are practicing OBGYNs.
No COD lovin’?
Do you have proof that Dr. Paul is for abortion? Or are you just making that up because you are a rino?
Don't know, why not post a few thousand more threads about her? She's probably eating breakfast tomorrow...So there's some news...Then lunch...dinner..
LOL!!
I was told on the other thread #52, most of Paul's followers were far right wing zealots...

56% rating by National Right to Life Commitee.
They keep up with WHAT YOU DO vs WHAT YOUR PRESS RELEASES SAY.
Don’t you think we could do better than 56% support on Right to Life from a doctor?
BTW, Lisa Murkoswki (RINO) has a 50% rating. Only 6% difference!
There are DEMOCRATS with higher ratings than 56% (Michael Ross (D) AR)
He is mixed on abortion, typical RINO position taking both sides.
Q: If abortion becomes illegal and a woman obtains an abortion anyway, what should she be charged with? What about the doctor who performs the abortion?
A: The first thing we have to do is get the federal government out of it. We dont need a federal abortion police. Thats the last thing that we need. There has to be a criminal penalty for the person thats committing that crime. And I think that is the abortionist. As for the punishment, I dont think that should be up to the president to decide.

Voted NO on restricting interstate transport of minors to get abortions.
To prevent the transportation of minors in circumvention of certain laws relating to abortion, and for other purposes, including:
* Allowing for exemptions to the law if the life of the minor is in danger or if a court in the minor’s home state waive the parental notification required by that state
* Allocating fines and/or up to one year imprisonment of those convicted of transporting a minor over state lines to have an abortion
* Penalizing doctors who knowingly perform an abortion procedure without obtaining reasonable proof that the notification provisions of the minor’s home state have been satisfied
* Requiring abortion providers in states that do not have parental consent laws and who would be performing the procedure on a minor that resides in another state, to give at least a 24 hour notice to the parent or legal guardian
* Specifying that neither the minor nor her guardians may be prosecuted or sued for a violation of this act

Voted NO on making it a crime to harm a fetus during another crime.
Vote to pass a bill that would make it a criminal offense to harm or kill a fetus during the commission of a violent crime. The measure would set criminal penalties, the same as those that would apply if harm or death happened to the pregnant woman, for those who harm a fetus. It is not required that the individual have prior knowledge of the pregnancy or intent to harm the fetus. This bill prohibits the death penalty from being imposed for such an offense. The bill states that its provisions should not be interpreted to apply a woman’s actions with respect to her pregnancy.

Voted NO on federal crime to harm fetus while committing other crimes.
Vote to pass a bill that would make it a federal crime to harm a fetus while committing any of 68 federal offenses or a crime under military law. Abortion doctors and women whose own actions harmed their fetuses would be exempt.

Voted NO on barring transporting minors to get an abortion.
The Child Custody Protection Act makes it a federal crime to transport a minor across state lines for the purpose of obtaining an abortion.

Paul adopted the Republican Liberty Caucus Position Statement:
Q: What is the RLCs position on abortion?
A: Neutral. We have both pro-lifers to pro-choicers, and in between. As far as libertarian groups go, youll find that we are probably the most tolerant of the pro-life viewpoint. Our immediate past chairman, Cong. Ron Paul (R-TX, 14th Dist.) is very pro-life. Many other members are pro-choice. As libertarians, we oppose Federal funding of abortion under any circumstances. It is not a litmus test, and it is not an issue that is often debated internally. However, the California RLC website www.LibertyCaucus.org, has sponsored a debate on the issue between two prominent members.

Rated 56% by the NRLC, indicating a mixed record on abortion.
Paul scores 56% by the NRLC on abortion issues
OnTheIssues.org interprets the 2006 NRLC scores as follows:
* 0% - 15%: pro-choice stance (approx. 174 members)
* 16%- 84%: mixed record on abortion (approx. 101 members)
* 85%-100%: pro-life stance (approx. 190 members)
About the NRLC (from their website, www.nrlc.org):
The ultimate goal of the National Right to Life Committee is to restore legal protection to innocent human life. The primary interest of the National Right to Life Committee and its members has been the abortion controversy; however, it is also concerned with related matters of medical ethics which relate to the right to life issues of euthanasia and infanticide. The Committee does not have a position on issues such as contraception, sex education, capital punishment, and national defense. The National Right to Life Committee was founded in 1973 in response to the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision, legalizing the practice of human abortion in all 50 states, throughout the entire nine months of pregnancy.
The NRLC has been instrumental in achieving a number of legislative reforms at the national level, including a ban on non-therapeutic experimentation of unborn and newborn babies, a federal conscience clause guaranteeing medical personnel the right to refuse to participate in abortion procedures, and various amendments to appropriations bills which prohibit (or limit) the use of federal funds to subsidize or promote abortions in the United States and overseas.
In addition to maintaining a lobbying presence at the federal level, NRLC serves as a clearinghouse of information for its state affiliates and local chapters, its individual members, the press, and the public.

You're right. It's kind of like the idiot 2'nd Amendment guys who show up to rallies with M4 rifles slung to their backs; they make us all look bad. Nevertheless, the larger message stands! I just watched Paul's speech on YouTube and I couldn't find a thing I disagreed with. It's a breath of fresh air to know a Constitutionalist still exists in politics!
Yeah go Ron I mean look how good he did the last time.
It proves that the CPAC was, on average, crazy.
Yep...His son aint too bad either....
1/3 of conservative groups didn’t attend. And only 1/3 of those who attended voted. 30% of those who voted went for Paul. Combined with Gary Johnson’s vote, 35% of 1/3 of 1/3 went libertarian.
Typical. We are only going to win if we work in a coalition with those who lack the ideological purity that each of us thinks we singularly possess.
Straw and pole at fudgepac? That’s gonna be a hard brick to pass.
BFD. Ron Paul is a kook and he fact he could win this straw poll going away tells me all I need to know about this congregation of fools.
