EPA Head Browner Asked for Computer Files to Be Deleted

By John Solomon Associated Press Writer

Published: Jun 29, 2001

WASHINGTON (AP) - The same day a judge ordered her agency to preserve records, then-Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Carol Browner asked a technician to delete her computer files, according to testimony in a court case seeking contempt penalties against the government.

Browner says she did not know about the court order and simply was seeking to remove some games, which her son had installed on her work computer, before leaving office with other Clinton appointees on Jan. 19.

"It didn't seem appropriate to leave behind a computer with kids' games," Browner said in sworn testimony filed in court this week in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

The conservative group that sued the EPA for documents isn't buying Browner's explanation, and on Friday asked U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth to hold her and other top staff whose electronic records were destroyed in contempt of court.

Maybe we're just doing this all wrong.

Maybe we should think : What would Saul Alinsky do?

No, I don't think Saul ever cared for facts of any sort, but hypothetically, if he had wanted to reveal something, what would he do?

First he would bait his quarry with some outrageous slander:

"It is alleged that Carolyn Brown-eye keeps a regiment of third-world refugee pre-adolescents as sexual slaves in the basement of the EPA headquarters. Full documentation is believed to be stored on her computer. We neither confirm nor deny, but given the seriousness of the charges urge a full investigation. "

Mark Levin sued her for the records. She played dumb on the stand. She has just done it again. That is why she hightailed it out of town. Time to haul her back into court.

? ~ preserve computer what?

If you don't deliver a court order to a federal employee and he's wandering off to a different job he'll make sure EVERYTHING IS DELETED and overwritten with the letter A millions of times.

You may be confusing Presidential records in the White House with "federal employee".

A) It is a firing offense to let unauthorized personnel (eg. family members) use government computers. Anyone and everyone that works with/on a government computer system has this drilled into their heads.

B) It is a firing offense to install unapproved programs (ie. games) on government computers. Anyone and everyone that works with/on a government computer system has this drilled into their heads.

C) Her story regarding removing games is BS because any competent IT person is going to wipe and re-install everything from bare metal up before re-issuing a computer to another user.

The other Obama cabinet members have kids computer games on their PC’s, Laptops and Blackberries too.

This is how sensitive data gets out and about.

Will be nice when we have tech savvy adults back in there.

Doesn’t use the computer very much but her son uses it for games. Therefore, must have a government official clean it. What a load of c***.

Federal employees and contractors often receive official agency notices that they are required to save all documents related to a specific case, issue, etc. From that moment on, it becomes illegal to delete any relevant materials and you can be prosecuted for it.

You also have to acknowledge that you have or don’t have relevant documents.

Been there; done that. No sweat if you are honest. In the case of Comrade Carol Browner, she’s a lying little red bastard and always has been. Time to put her lying ass in jail for a long time.
