Mods, I know this story was discussed a few days ago, but please don't delete. My question is not about the UFO or whatever, it's about the ABC reporter's use of this phrase--"Theories of what it was range from the obvious UFO to the thought it might be the Hebrew God Elohim..."

Does this sound right to you guys? For some reason red flags went up here, especially since this allegedly took place *directly* over the Muslim mosque called "Dome of the Rock"...are things being set in place to blame Jews for happening to this Islamic "holy place"?

What happens when the UFO decides to shoot back?

Hebrew God Elohim???

They mean God, like our Father who art in Heaven?

I didn’t know the Hebrews had a God other than the One that both Christians and Jews worship.

I suppose they’re trying to distinguish from Satan, er, I mean Allah?

It was just a strange reference...I’ve done a lot of Judeo/Christian studies, and so I’ve heard of Elohim, but as far as the ‘real’ world and in news stories, I’ve only ever heard the name “Jehovah” when talking about Jewish religion...just struck me as strange!

Elohim is a biblical reference of course, but I would expect Adonai before Elohim or YHWH.

Besides, isn’t Elohim plural?

Elohim is Hebrew for God.
YHWH is Hebrew for Lord.
Unfortunately, in English they are used interchangeably, but they aren’t.

It’s all about perspective. From the photographers point of view it was over the Dome, but maybe in reality it could have been miles away. I remember flying into an airport and the tower gave me clearance to land. I told the tower there was another plane coming into the pattern. The tower said it was over three miles away. Perspective.

I know that Elohim means The Lord Our God.

So I don’t need to look it up. Read what I wrote.

The media used to just say God.

Now, in order to appear neutral to the Muslims, the press is now saying “The Hebrew God Elohim”, as if Allah is His equal.

2 thoughts on this. 1) fake. 2) "the thought it might be Hebrew God Elohim" (a) attempts to smear the Jews as being polytheistic. Many people pay very scant attention to the world, so the phrase implies to such people that maybe the jews have many gods, and this is just one of them, and bears no relation to the Christian God. (b) "thought it might be" is thrown in by the scriptwriter, just to ensure that it doesn't seem like they are affirming Judaism. Disney sucks. 3) fake.

If it was a physical object; that is, an object that displaces air, there would have been a sonic boom when it took off, judging from it’s rate of climb.

If there was no sonic boom, then it was (a) either a fake, or (b) very, very advanced technology, or (c) a miracle.

If it was not a) an image inserted in an otherwise nondescript night time video of the Temple Mount (the reaction of the people around the camera argues against that), b) a ball of light actually miles away that by chance was lined up perfectly with the top of the Dome of the Rock and the videographer's camera, or c) Ball Lightening (larger, more stable in flight, and unlike any I've ever seen photographed) then I can come to only one conclusion:

A quick pre-demolition survey of a building that is overdue for removal.

It is certainly one of the more convincing videos I've ever seen of a UFO.

You do understand where the Dome of the Rock is, right?

Yes, that’s why I put Islamic “holy place” in air quotes.
