There is no way the agency's SIG's got "worn out" in 2-3 years, as was stated in the article. Any modern German/Austrian/Swiss pistol is usually good for 25,000 rounds at least, and there is no way that some BS agency in NC was firing 800-1000 rounds a month through their sidearms. I'd be surprised if they needed to fire more than 100 rounds a year for qualification.

The whole thing sounds like a boondoggle purchasing scheme. These schmucks should have bought used HK's and been done with it. I bought a used HK USP 9MM and put 20,000 rounds through it and it still runs fine. I only clean it every 2000 rounds or so and it's never had a spot of rust form on it. The finish is unbelievably rust-resistant.

I was laughing at how the infallible 1911 design had been rendered unreliable by Kimber. How does Kimber take a battle-tested pistol like the 1911 and screw it up?
