He’s a small business man from Bozeman. He runs a tech company called RightNow Technologies, which has a global clientele, he’s married and has kids. I’d say he’s in his 40’s and he’s very, very conservative and has strong Christian values.
I highly doubt Schweitzer wants to be a backbencher. I think he’s got higher aspirations like working in a Democrat administration in the White House. He’s got a record to run on and I don’t think Montana is going to send Schweitzer to Washington. He’s run for Congress before and lost.
It was his run against Sen. Conrad Burns in 2000 that gave him his (unfortunately) high profile that he used as a springboard in ‘02. Too bad Judy Martz ended up as she did, or that trash might’ve been stopped before getting to the Governorship.
Ick, I don’t know. It’s not like Schweitzer can count on a job in an administration that hopefully won’t be there in 2013. A run for the open House seat seems like a natural move.
As Auh2orepublican mentioned Governor’s of states with single house seats have run before. It’s helpful that rat chances for a majority are slight, hopefully that will dissuade him.
GReat news Rehberg is running for Senate though. Republican Senate hopefuls should be smelling the blood in the water.
Barring a major change in political tides, I think we’ll see Rehberg elected and also win in North Dakota. Too soon to comment on other races.
I like Steve Daines but he just wouldn’t have the name recognition and the popularity of Denny Rehberg does against Tester. Tester was a 2:1 favorite against Daines. Against Rehberg, Tester falls behind. Steve Daines switching to Rehberg’s vacated seat is a class act and hopefully the GOP can keep the House seat and pick up Tester’s seat in the Senate. There is a good possibility of a pick up in the Senate with this race.
