Reading the postings on that link were hilarious. Guess Maher happened to have had Maddow on his show tonight and they were really taken aback by it. Well, she at least was. Appears that Maher was snarky and mean as always.
“Theres no reason to believe Comcast is going right when they are run by the Left.”
Reading the complete article, I learned that the two top dogs at Comcast (in the ultimate irony) are not only Republicans, but have been major Repub contributors, one to GW’s presidential campaign. No wonder so many on that message board are bashing Comcast. LOL
Yes he would. I welcome that transition.
ogermanns ratings are higher than ricks and eds ratings, i guess they feared ed would burn the place down.
Pardon me but who is Keith Olberman and what is MSNBC?
If I told you the truth, you won't believe it, so I'm going to make something up. MSNBC is a cable network that was originally a collaboration between Microsoft and NBC (which is owned by Government Electric). Microsoft withdrew, but the MS stayed. They are purportedly a news and opinion network, but more opinion than news.
Olberman is a sports reporter, who was miscast as a political commentator on that network. Sports reporters are in the habit of making ridiculous, unfounded and easily refutable pronouncements ( cf. Patriots 2011 Superbowl Victory, for an example) without consequences, so this was good training to be a political pundit. As a sports reporter, he had much more training and experience in matters of policy, economics, law, history, warfare, medicine, science and engineering than most, if not all, other political commentators. Therefore his commentary was particularly lucid, informed, intellectually stimulating, and coherent. Unfortunately, he was far too sophisticated for the mass media.
Hope that clears things up for ya.
The left has plenty of warm bodies they can replace Olberman with, and many who are as well known as he is. What Comcast will be looking for, is someone who comes across as reasonable, intelligent, friendly, thoughtful - yet who is just as liberal as Olberman.
He was simply mentally unhinged, and had to go.
“Hope that clears things up for ya.”
Sorta, maybe sometime I might try to look it up on the 75 channels I never watch!
“Unfortunately, he was far too sophisticated for the mass media.”
You mean, what’s his name, Sloberman?, got a raise?
Do you suppose that the result of the Arizona fiasco actually made some of them start looking into who and what really is inflammatory, and came to the conclusion that the Left is vastly more violent, incendiary, dishonest and biased?
Or, have they suddenly figured out why they have such a small audience compared to FOX?
Rush! yes!
Seriously.
Let me guess.
Olberman “wants to spend more time with his family.”
Comcast will probably go through a bunch of smoke-and-mirror mumbo-jumbo, but they will not change course.
MSNBC might be trimmed until they start being profitable, but the will have to take a lot of hits in staff first.
Again, Comcast could shutter MSNBC entirely. MSNBC does not have to survive.
