Mullah Omar, the elusive, one-eyed leader of the Afghan Taliban, had a heart attack Jan. 7 and was treated for several days in a Karachi hospital with the help of Pakistan's spy agency, according to a private intelligence network run by former CIA, State Department and military officers.
The intelligence network, operating under the auspices of a private company, “The Eclipse Group,” said its source was a physician in the Karachi hospital, which was not identified in the report, who said he saw Omar struggling to recover from an operation to put a stent in his heart.
“While I was not personally in the operating theater,” the physician reported, “my evaluation based on what I have heard and seeing the patient in the hospital is that Mullah Omar had a cardiac catheter complication resulting in either bleeding or a small cerebral vascular incident, or both.”
U.S. officials said they could not immediately verify the report. A spokesman at the Pakistan Embassy in Washington did not respond to a request for comment.

When Barry and Biden took over for GW, it was not enough to continue pouring hundreds of millions down the Pakistani rat hole, Barry in his infinite wisdowm TRIPLED aid to Pakistan to $7.5 BILLION over 5 years. In return for this cash, the ISI and President 10% Zardari allowed Barry to go all video game on the low level Jihadis in the tribal areas NWFP. The ISI feeds the CIA ‘intelligence’ about some low level Al Qaeda functionaries, and we send a Predator dronbe to vaporize their mud hut or pickup truck with a couple hellfire missles. We announce we killed some ‘facilitator’ or got the Al Qaeda #3 (how many number 3’s have we killed so far?), but never do we get close to Mullah Omar, OBL, or Ayman Zawahri.
If the ISI were to let us get Omar or Zawahri, (OBL is probably pushing up daisies already) the cash stops flowing and the corrupt gov’t officials can’t continue to feed their Swiss bank accounts, buy mansions in the south of France and London, and prepare for the day they have to flee the country.
Mr. 10%, President Zardari has already stolen tens of millions in foreign money from the time his wife Benazir Bhutto was President, and now he is stealing VASTLY more cash from us because Barry and Biden, and Bush before them were willing to put up with the corruption in return for Paksitans cooperation in the War on Terror. Google Zardari and 10% and you will see what I say is 100% true.
Our brave soldiers are being killed and wounded in Afghan/Pak theater so corrupt Pakis and Afghanis can line their pockets. That is a truth no American politician is willing to admit. Al Qaeda in Yemen is responsible for more teror attacks on our country in the last 5 years than Al Qaeda in Pakistan. Wake up people........

Your numbers are well off. Bush and Congress gave Billions to Pakistan, and Obama only continued that policy, as Per SOP.
US President Barack Obama has signed into law a $7.5bn aid package for Pakistan, after fears it might impinge on Pakistani sovereignty were eased.
It follows meetings between the bill’s authors, Democrats John Kerry and Howard Berman, and Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The two congressmen issued a statement saying the bill set no conditions that would infringe Pakistan’s sovereignty.
It triples non-military US aid to an annual outlay of $1.5bn for five years.
I was referencing NON-MILITARY aid, which is usually easier to siphon off than if we send them some hellicopters, guns, etc.
