After Tucson, a thaw between Obama and McCain? (McCain reaches across the aisle to Zero)
The Washington Post ^ | 2011-01-16 | Dan Balz

Could the long-icy relationship between President Obama and his 2008 presidential opponent, Sen. John McCain, be thawing?

McCain (R-Ariz.) took a significant step toward reconciling with the president in a graceful op-ed in Sunday's Washington Post. If that article marks a genuine fresh beginning, it would be one positive thing to come out of the horrific shooting spree in Tucson eight days ago.

McCain and Obama will never be comrades in arms. They have too much history, too much mutual ill will and too many philosophical differences for that. In the two years since McCain went down in defeat against Obama, the tension between them has been evident in almost every public setting in which they've appeared.

But in praising the president's speech at Wednesday's memorial service in Tucson, McCain has reached out to Obama with an open hand. Not since his gracious concession speech on the night of the election has McCain spoken so generously of his rival.

White House coordinated attacks on TEA Party after AZ shooting according to the Spectator.

POLITICAL LOCK AND LOAD
For more than a week, the White House, several political appointees inside the Department of Justice, and former Obama campaign staffers associated with Organizing for America have been coordinating on how President Barack Obama’s administration can capitalize on the Tucson shooting tragedy and the attack on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).

McCain has been in Obama’s pocket since the 2008 debates.

McCain gives Obama a reach-around.

Please go away, McCain. You were held prisoner by Communists, now you are capitulating to a Communist President.

And McCain won’t even bother asking Obama for a ‘reach-around’.

The people of Arizona have published their collective IQ.

McCain has to be one of the smarmiest politicians I have seen in my lifetime.

McCain ran the most inept Presidential election campaign in my life time. He pissed away a lead gotten after Sarah Palin electrified the base by suspending the campaign and going to Washington to watch Obama grandstand during the financial meltdown.

Asked if he supported the 700 billion dollar bailout, his answer was 'whatever'.

He could not have done worse if he was trying to throw it.
Which I call an open question.

An abbreviated McCain time line -

Act like a RINO

Senate 50-50 - become a (D) but “Jumping Jim” beat him to it.

Act RINO - write bills with Kennedy and Feingold

Need to get reelected - move to the right, act tough

2010 Election over - back to RINO

It's actually quite predictable - what's next, Amnesty?
