A member of the House Armed Services Committee plans to introduce legislation next week designed to put the brakes on repeal of the militarys ban on openly gay troops.
The measure by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) would add the four military service chiefs to the list of those who must sign off on repealing the policy before it can be officially scrapped.
Hunter, an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran, is concerned that the bill passed in December repealing the Dont ask, dont tell policy excluded the service chiefs from the certification process, said one congressional aide.
The repeal bill, signed into law Dec. 22 by President Obama, requires only the OK of the president, defense secretary and Joint Chiefs chairman.
The chairman technically speaks for the chiefs, but they should be included in the debate, said the aide. The chiefs are the ones carrying the burden of combat on their shoulders.

Will not go anywhere unless it is attached to raise in debt ceiling.
How will activist judges not be able to overturn it, anyways? On any issue, just one activist judge is necessary to void the wishes of a majority of politicians and voters!
WE reimpose it and then turn around and keep imposing it.
The judge would have to rehear the whole case.
you don’t look to the finish until you reach the finish. This is a good thing.
Not bad but they need to have lots of investigations making sure any negative effects are blamed on the repeal.
Well down Rep. Hunter. However, I think that the new House should introduce and pass legislation repealing the repeal of DADT. Then tell the POTUS, etc. that if they chose to allow open homosexuals in the military, that the House of Representatives WILL NOT pass legislation to ammend the UCMJ so this can be done.
Good for him.
And it makes sense, as well. The services are responsible for training and equipping, not the joint commander.
National Center for Transgender Equality
Transgender people are denied the ability to join the armed forces as a result of various discriminatory policies. Not only is this unjust to individual transgender people who wish to serve their country through military service, it weakens our national defense by barring qualified people from duty. The following proposals will end this discrimination and strengthen the military by attracting and retaining qualified personnel.
* Repeal Dont Ask Dont Tell. Congress should pass the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, which would repeal the militarys Dont Ask, Dont Tell, Dont Pursue policy. Although this policy deals specifically with sexual orientation, privacy for transgender service members and even the ability to serve is also hampered by the ban.

The House of Reps has control over all Federal Judges and Federal Courts.
They can add to any Bill -- 'Not Reviewable By Judicial Branch' (or words to that effect). Which the Republicans did to a couple Bills around 2001-2002.
And when Tom Delay was still The Hammer in the House, he threatened to start reviewing decisions by Moonbat Federal Judges who were 'making law' and talked of Impeachment. He was 'series' and the RATS went apoplectic.

YES YES YES YES DO IT DO IT! PLEASE! The R controlled House better step up to the plate or else we're down to the last box.
There are many other hurdles besides this one. A homosexual sex promoting military is FAR FAR FAR from being a done deal...
I will still vote based on moral values, period.
B U M P
Damn right they better do it.
They passed the repeal and have no clue how to bring it in.
The military does not want it, most vets and those serving do not want it and the survey was really flawed and yes I read the questions.
No where did it ask do you want to have openly serving homosexuals with you or do you want to repeal the policy.
It’ yet again the left playing politics with the military and giving the small % of people what they want.
Already one top commander in the navy has been forced to step down and those in the media should be disgusted with themselves how they went after him
One activist judge - just one - can void the Constitution in today’s perverted society.
The new Rs and whatever old ones are there BETTER GET THEIR FREAKING ACT TOGETHER is all I can say (and not go over the FR line).
Cowards are just as bad as traitrs, leftists, Dems and RINO elitists.
They’re all enemies of truth, morality, virtue and the principles our country was founded upon.
This is, partly, why I’m not convinced that it’s all over for leftist politics. In fact, look at ALL WORLDWIDE NON-VOTING JOBS that leftists are in and have been in, for many decades and counting: teachers, lawyers, social workers, journalists, religious leaders, actors, movie directors, musicians,...
