ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio University plans to test allowing men and women to live together in the same dorm rooms.
It's an idea that was pushed on behalf of the school's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Center.
Center Director Mickey Hart tells the student-run newspaper The Post the gender-neutral housing will be of particular benefit to students who identify as transgender. Student Senate member Sean Martin says students in dating relationships who try to live together under the new housing option will be "frowned upon."
Administrators say a one-year experiment with male-female roommates will begin with this year's fall term, primarily for upperclassmen.
They say other Ohio schools, including Miami University, also are trying out gender-neutral housing.

I presume this will be in multi-room suite environments? That is probably the norm in upperclassmen dormitories.

Why do GLBT advocates want to live with the opposite sex? Seems kind of counter-intuitive to me.
I read a statistic recently that lesbians have more male sex partners in their lifetime than heterosexual women do.

Sounds to me like they are wanting to change the policy so there simply isn’t any particular rule that would stand in the way of someone whose gender is in the gray area from being able to live on campus.
Unisex bathrooms have already been attempted in Maine for K-12 schools. The backlash was pretty quick.
These universities are pretty selective about giving the students all kinds of rights while indoctrinating them and shutting down conservative thought.
It's working too. That's what all the nonsense about "gay marriage" is really about. Make absolutely any combination of writhing bodies seem "normal" with the sole exception of lifelong heterosexual monogamy. And if any kid says it's wrong, tell him that he and his folks and his church members are all "haters."
Sounds to me like the Human Sexuality 101 class got confused with the Modern Media 101 class, which consisted of essays on episodes of “Friends”.

Also seems like a few thousand sexual harassment complaints the universities will have to pay out on as well. The upside will be seeing the schools cope with financial harm due to trans-gendered sexual harassment. I mean if Chaz Bono is making unwanted advances at her roommate, Kim Kardashian......
I’m sure they’ll be remembering their tax payer funded abstinence counseling. And after all, everything universities teach makes so much sense, we’ll never have another set of Loughner parents. /s

Instead of searchin for mysteries without any clues, youth will now have to be forced to, witness reality without any mystery.
What if you were a homosexual male trapped in a gay woman’s body?
They are adults, I mean there can basically be any living arrangements off campus so really this whole thing is pointless. Except how could be in that close quarters and not have hookups of some kind going on?
Do you want your kid to live in the same room with someone whose gender is in the gray area?
What parent would allow their daughter to attend a university under these circumstances?
Not when I went there. One to four person rooms. I don’t recall any multi room suites. That may have changed.
How about us male lesbians???

So now we give equal rights to people based on sexual preference then shall we now look at those who like sex with animal, consenting incest , 9 wives etc?

Uh...this isn’t the 1950s anymore. Co-ed dorms are the norm in most universities and for all intents and purposes, co-ed rooms are pretty standard in modern universities. People don’t “officially” live together but spending 75% of their free time together and having frequent sleepovers isn’t a far step from it.

I attended OU and can assure you they’ve had coed rooming and bathrooms at least since the early eighties.
It's down in Athens, a very hard-partying fun town in Southern Ohio, in the heart of the marijuana growing district.
A little clarification.
Unisex bathrooms, showers, etc, are ALREADY standard at many colleges and universities. Have been for years.
It must be because transgendered types want to live with members of the opposite sex.
