2009: NYT exposed shooter's hippie collectivist "Zeitgeist Movement"
NYT ^ | 3/16/2009 | Alan Feuer

"Two hours into Z-Day, the educational forum associated with the online movie “Zeitgeist,” Peter Joseph, the film’s director and the evening’s M.C., stepped out from behind his lectern and walked forward earnestly on the stage... The evening, which began at 7 with a two-hour critique of monetary economics, became by midnight a utopian presentation of a money-free and computer-driven vision of the future, a wholesale reimagination of civilization, as if Karl Marx and Carl Sagan had hired John Lennon from his “Imagine” days to do no less than redesign the underlying structures of planetary life..."

In the buried ABC News interview of shooter's friend:

"I really think that this 'Zeitgeist' documentary had a profound impact on Jared's mindset and how he viewed that world that he lives in," Osler said. Osler also said that Loughner's favorite quote was "Out of chaos breathes creation."

“...as if Karl Marx and Carl Sagan had hired John Lennon from his “Imagine” days to do no less than redesign the underlying structures of planetary life...”

IMHO, if John Lennon were alive today, he’d be more socially conservative than most people would like to believe. He might even be listening to and enjoying the EIB and Rush Limbaugh.

Loughner had a messed-up mind looking for an obsession.

Had it not been this, it would have been something else.

At the Zeitgeist website it mentions The Venus Project, a project about “sustainable communities.” Isn’t that Van Jones and the Progressives shtick? Why yes it is. No wonder the Progs were blowing smoke and fire.

Rush was reporting he was a big fan of Donnie Darko and a A Scanner Darkly which are both very trippy movies and to someone a little nutty could be easily taken out of context....

Is it Hollywoods fault????

Zeitgeist: The Movie was a softener. Zeitgeist: Addendum is where the meat is. It depicts the obvious failure and corruption of the Federal Reserve in the first half, and its inevitable collapse, and leads it in to the second half as a reason and opportunity to bring about Agenda 21 and the New World Religion.

LOL In reality he's nothing more than a typical “nut” case, that society has turned lose on unsuspecting citizens.

Visit a homeless shelter, they're a dime a dozen...Hospital, jails, family don't have the tools to deal with them. SO they are turned loose literally on the streets. Being passed around the above like a hot potato, they self medicate with drugs and alcohol making their illness worse.

If the social worker does go through the mountain of paper work, the judge, family, leo, hospital etc are not required to “help” the individual....after all the legislature says they are an adult and their rights must not be infringed upon.

Speaking as the mother of a PAST social worker who worked with the homeless mentally ill and was targeted by a paranoid/schizophrenic....At least the police warned him to get out of town, the guy had an automatic gun and was hunting for him and probably saved his life....This entire episode is a symptom of the breakdown of our mental health system....The government's agency is not functioning

“Is it Hollywoods fault????”

I think the future will reflect that it’s his environment from birth to now that is at fault. His parents provided, and still provide that environment, and all they have done is attempt to cover up the results of that environment.

Sheriff Dupnik may have been involved as part of the environment, but apparently is somehow involved in the attempt to cover up of the results of that environment.

Time will tell as this story unfolds.

Yepper. They needed to get out front in a hurry on this one. He is, after all, one of their own. Solution? Get the MSM on board fast, to blame his sickeness, on conservative rhetoric. These people are pure evil.

Many of the ideas he had were right on target and all too real. (the Fed, the UN, police states, etc.) Trouble is, he was too mentally deranged to deal with his emotions on these subjects.

IMO, too much info sent him over the edge and will likely cause others to do the same.

"he was too mentally deranged to deal with his emotions on these subjects"

Indeed. Ironically, Representative Giffords was a major proponent of sustainable development. Loughner knew so little about her that he didn't know she was an advocate for the very utopian concepts he so "dreamed" of. Odds are, Rep. Giffords doesn't understand what exactly she's advocating either.
