Severed head hung from bridge in Tijuana, Mexico

The severed head of a young man was found hanging from a bridge in the Mexican border city of Tijuana on Monday.

The Baja California state attorney general's office said the head belonged to a man between 25 and 30 years old.

It had several bullet wounds and was hung using a metallic ring and a nylon rope. A threatening message was found nearby on the bridge.

Hours earlier, a woman between 30 and 35 years old was found shot to death in another Tijuana neighborhood, also with a threatening message left nearby.

Authorities have blamed recent cartel-style violence in Tijuana on feuding between rivals and loyalists of Teodoro "El Teo" Garcia Simental, an alleged drug lord arrested last January.

Farther east along Mexico's border with the United States, Mexican soldiers on Monday found an unfinished tunnel under a house in the city of Nogales, across from Nogales, Arizona.

The army's 45th Military Zone command said the tunnel was dug about 5 feet (1.5 meters) beneath the surface and stretched almost 100 feet (30 meters), apparently just far enough to reach U.S. territory.

The command said in a statement the tunnel ended abruptly and had probably been intended to move drugs across the border.

The mouth of the tunnel was found in one of the rooms of the house in Mexico, which appeared abandoned. There were no arrests nor were any drugs found at the scene.

The La Familia cartel declared a truce for the month of January.

I'm thinking that isn't working out so well.

Why anyone would want to even visit this turd-world hellhole is beyond me.

I'd as soon take a trip to Iraq and feel safer.

Many moons ago (as a yound Air Force Sgt stationed in Texas) I used to love to go to Mehico for a weekend and later, when married, I took a couple of trips to Tijuana.

However that last time I was there was about 20 years ago.

Now, I wouldn't even take a free trip to Acapulco if offered.

They're taking a page out of the Palestinian terrorist playbook. They need time to reload.

A few years ago my wife and I took a years worth of Spanish classes from the local college. Classes were very cheap and we both use Spanish in our jobs, I’m a police officer and she is a teacher. The instructor for the class was born and raised in Mexico, and got her American citizenship the right way I might add. We took a trip with her to Mexico and saw the real side of the country, not the tourist side. Never been so happy to get back home in my life.

Wife and I liked to spend a week at Ixtapa after Christmas (about 20 years ago.) Inexpensive, safe, good chow.

Not anymore.

Don't worry, Janet will protect us over on this side of the border. She probably has some motorcycle riding friends who can help her.

I drove all the way through Mexico to return to El Salvador once. The Salvadorans were surprised when I told them I was glad to be back “home” to El Salvador and out of Mexico. And this was during El Salvador’s guerrilla war.

Were the Mexican drug gangs always this violent or have they learned new tactics from the islamic terrorists?

Kind of tacky, if you ask me. Sort of like overdone art deco - I mean, like on a BRIDGE?

A head on a stake is far more traditional. Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing any heads of drug lords and their lieutenants displayed on stakes.

yet Obama will state that Mexico is a very safe place to go and visit and there is no problem with drug trafficking and the immigration problem to the US is not a problem there is no problem with anythingn being illegal in Mexico. This is trumped issues by the republican run media - Fox news. this is why there is a need for net neutrality news to get out the so called news that there really is no problems in the world. gee the muslims and the world love Americans and Al Quaeda is a peace loving organization just like Hamas. gee look at all the good that william ayers did for the children of Chicago Public Schools. That is whu I wanted my good friend former superintendent of Chicago Public schools (Dr. Arnie Duncan)to become the Secretary of Education. Come now there are no problems in the world, North Korea just wants more food, so periodically they fire off missles and rockets blow up an island or two, sink a ship and threaten to nuclear war, but this is just attention seeking like Iran and its quest for nuclear power for peaceful purposes. with all the oil reserves in Iran theire is a problem with developing gasoline for the people of Iran to power their vehicles. And yes Palestine is so peace loving that it deserves its own country. Come now people of America do you realize with my receiving the nobel peace prize that everyone in the world loves and I have to only speak one word and the whole world will bow down and kiss the ground I walk on.
There is no problems in Mexico and so on so forth. It is Fox News fault for showing forth this false news reporting. Who are you going to believe me your presidenmt who never tell a lie or Fox News, rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Sarah palin, these are the people whom are lying to Just remember read Saul Alinskys Book Rules for radicals and you will find all the problems in the world are caused by the white man. (everyone knows Odumbo is a fantasy world he speaks to George Soros Look Boss de Plane de plane yes barack my son that is de plane and it is here to make all the fantasies of those abroad to come true, and you can help with the palns I have given you. Go my son and make forth Heaven on Earth the new Jerusalem, Nirvana)

The “severed head” thing, in Me-hee-co, has been quite overdone. The Cartels really need a new calling card.

As life long Texans and south Texas deer hunters, we have taken many many trips to Mexico. During hunting season we would go across the border to Piedras Negras or Nuevolaredo every weekend. We have made many trips to the interior of Mexico, sightseeing and hunting, it is a beautiful country full of interesting places.
After a couple of scary incidents, we don't do that anymore, wouldn't be prudent.
