Simply because “first responders” are required to work in extreme and dangerous environments. As such, they need special protection within their organizations from the likes of “politically correct” Democrat/liberal buffoons who fight harder for the criminals then the protectors. Firemen, the same situation. Firemen will immediately, automatically go into harm’s way to save lives and property. The second guessing from the low life liberal types is uncalled for and should be directly confronted by first responder supporters (Unions). As for all other public service employees, no unions, teachers included. And.....they should be banned from striking. If they want a union, let them become plumbers, or steel workers, auto workers or bartenders, etc.
