Nice to know that there are politicians that actually care about the people. Just because Putin isn’t politically correct in his methods doesn’t mean that he isn’t good in many ways for Russia.

Assasinate a few journalists, throw an opponent or two in jail, I tell ya’ . . . it’s tough for a Russian leader to get respect.

Not exactly rule of law, but I like it.
Can you imagine Obama sending Secretary Chu to the gulf to live on a leaking oil rig until it’s fixed?
Or putting Bloomberg in a garbage truck with a plow on it until the NY streets are cleared?
We can’t even get our congress critters to live by the rules of normal citizens (the unwashed masses)!

Putin is a dictator that can’t even run the trains on time.

.
Putin (occassionally) gets a "bad rap" here at Free Republic ...
Is he a murderous ex-KGB assassin ? Yes ...
Does he stiffle a Press Press ? Yes ...
On the other hand ...
Putin DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY ... at least from others ... and that's a good thing in you're the President or King ...
I really admire Putin for "firing" the Russian Space Program Managers for "splashing" 2 or 3 recent GPS Satellite launches ...
If Putin were the POTUS ... in this scenario ...
THEN the NASA Program Managers who destroyed the Space Shuttles Challenger and Columbia ...
would STILL be rotting in a Siberian prison.
So ... Putin wants to put the "Fear of God" into those "nameless faceless" Moscow beaucrats who screwed-up Moscow's power grid ?
I applaud him ...
Of course, there are many "fringe benefits" to being a Putin ...
I don't recall ANY of those Assage Wikileaks memos (concerning Putin and Mother Russia) being "leaked" ...
My mother's (former) female Siamese Cat (Mir-Sing) has more gonads than the (gay) Kenyan "Zero" ...
And that precisely WHY Wikileaks has (tried) to make the United States the laughing-stock of planet Earth ...

Amen to that. The problems caused by government inaction would be substantially reduced if officials were held accountable.

I agree they were "fall guys" ... but AT LEAST Putin made a "TV-Sound-Bite" effort to show that he gives a "damn" about the Russin people ...
But ... It's far-better than ANYTHNG the U.S. populace received from the (gay) Kenyan ...

I agree—what ever you think about Putin and his methods, he get things done and takes care of Russia’s interests. You make not like him, but you have to respect him.
To: george76
I’d issue similar instructions. As I mentioned, Russia is a corrupt country and many high officials live like feudal lords concerned for their own well-being rather than looking out for the interests of the people they serve. That’s not going to change anytime soon there.
