I have read there will be a parade float in honor of Ronald Reagan the 100th anniversary of his birthday in the Rose Bowl Parade.

I do love the Gipper and honor his memory. Cried buckets of tears when he died, and joined a group of California FReepers who visited his grave soon after the funeral. Definitely the greatest president of the 2nd half of the 20th Century. Having said that, though, I do wish conservatives would be honest about his complete record. Like any president, he did have some failures. The best biographies are the ones that are honest about a person’s strengths and weaknesses.

I have said this once before, on this forum, my first vote for a President of The United States was for Ronald Reagan. I was fortunate to have voted for President Reagan twice. If I could have voted for him three times, I would have done so. President Reagan gave to America, he didn’t take from America as so many of our politicians have done and continue to do. Ronald Reagan loved this nation. He loved the people of America. Ronald Reagan tried, yet he too failed sometimes. Ronald Reagan did not fail America in any continuing sense of failure, he instead lifted America, called America that Shining City on the Hill, and Ronald Reagan reminded all Americans and the world of freedom, life, justice, and of exceptionalism embodied in the individual. Ronald Reagan was the greatest President of the century, and should we fail as Americans to find another like him, because America is always looking for the next Ronald Reagan, then America will have lost some of what is America and what America stands for. I continue to admire this man, who arrived when our nation needed someone like him. It had to be God’s will. I can offer no other logical explanation. Thank You Lord, for Ronald Reagan!

I started reading “The Reagan Diaries” over Christmas. I don’t know when I will get back to it. In just the few pages I read, his love for the country, clear-eyed skepticism of the Soviets and humbleness shone through.

Hope to get back to reading the book soon.

Having met Reagan in 1984, I have a special place in my heart for his memory. Knowing this, my wife gave me a 5 CD set for my birthday last year called “Reagan, In His Own Voice”, I highly recommend it.

Reagan's real weakness was listening to and believing in a few dims that he thought were trustworthy. We have come to know that there are no dims that are trustworthy and to be truthful... only about half of the republicans are. He was rolled by tip o’neil, ted kennedy and others. He listened to liberals in the Pentagon about Lebanon for example... and ted kennedy rolled him on Amnesty... and tip promised a dollar of spending cuts for every dollar of new taxes... all were lies from the party of satan.

There was only one perfect man... they crucified HIM and HE rose from the dead. Happy New Year FRiend!

Same here - I was 18 and able to vote the first time for RWR for President and it was the proudest vote I have ever cast....one for having voted for the first time and I was lucky enough that it was a Presidential election year and that I voted in the best President (IMHO) that this country has had since Washington himself.
I cried when he passed and that was a first as well. I had never before nor have I since, cried over a public officials death. I taped his funeral and a moment froze in my mind that I to this day, get teary eyed over. When Mrs. Reagan was being led to the car and out of the crowd a man yelled “God bless you Mrs. Reagan”. Wow! To this day that brings tears to my eyes. I appreciate the man who said it more then I can say. I believe Mrs. Reagan was in shock for many reasons but one of them was that so many people loved and still love her husband and attended his funeral and to have someone from total silence yell to her from that crowd was so moving to me. It gave her strength I believe.
I wonder if anyone knows of her health?
God Bless you Mrs. Reagan as I know He has your husband and as He did our country by giving us such a great leader.

I bought our three Grandchildren Christmas presents from there this year. And I found that for the Christmas season they had a 300% INCREASE in online shoppers as I called when my order was taking a little longer than it should to receive. The fellow in the Shipping Dept said they were overwhelmed with all the orders and 'slightly' caught off guard.

(The RATS can say what they want but 'Reagan Conservatism' is back, and it's back -- HUGH!

I grew up in Ronald Reagan’s hometown, Dixon,Il., long after he had left, but did have the honor to meet him when I was a child. Reagan had a lifelong love affair with America, and always saw his duty as President to protect and defend this country. In the modern world we live in, Reagan restored American exceptionalism. The Tea Party folks showed America what that was all about this past year.
