Outgoing GOP congressman: 'Credible conservatives' not about Obama 'hatred'
The Hill ^ | 12/31/2010 | Bridget Johnson

Posted on 12/31/2010 8:22:08 PM PST by speciallybland

Outgoing Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) said Thursday that a "credible conservative" movement that doesn't focus on "hatred" of President Obama is needed.

Inglis was defeated in a landslide by Trey Gowdy in the June primary runoff. Gowdy, a staunch conservative and Tea Party favorite, went on to win the 4th District seat in November.

Inglis lamented on CNN that the current wave of populist conservatism is unlike that of Ronald Reagan.

"We'll get through and we'll get back to optimistic conservatism," he said. "We just got to get through this unfortunate period."

The congressman said he was wounded in his campaign by not joining "in the real bitterness toward the president."

"I don't call him a socialist because he's not," he said. "I don't doubt that he was born in Hawaii because he was. I don't call him a Muslim because he says he's a Christian. And I didn't say anything about death panels because there weren't any in that health care bill."

A truly remarkable showing as to how BHO was able to become POTUSA and how/why he has been able to fend off eligibility contesting. It is noteworthy that a Republican will/would put his persnal opinions out to stop answering a Constitutional dilemma from many of his voting peons and not even going out to substantiate his private opinion. Shows the disdain and disregard some elected officials have for their electors. I have one.

This guy can’t get over losing in the primary. I suspect he was totally surprised and humiliated.

So, starting out with a false premise is how he seeks to establish "credibility"?

No wonder this guy lost, he's completely out of the loop.

Palin blew this sky high by mentioning Death Panels months ago.

And when it hit the fan, the politicians said there weren't any death panels, but they would take them out.

Of course now Obama is gonna legislate from the White House and put them back in in January.

He's gotta be stopped.

Inglis took the bait from Obama and his BO movement, stupidkly not understanding that Obamas presidential campaign was the biggest scam in US history, a reverse racial discrimination scam, and constitutionally unqualified candidate, promoted as America's first black president, so called?

Anyone who can't see this , like Inglis, is dumber than dirt.

Those who can see the Obama facts are anything BUT Obama haters, they are merely well informed. And it is those who can see who will restore the constitution of our country.

He’s right. The movement should be based on a loathing of RINOs.

RINOs are the root cause of the problem in the Republic that causes people to vote for the likes of Obama.

Why can’t these GOP losers and chumps just keep their lips zipped. They only confirm our worst suspicions. Plus I never heard any Democrat moderate who lost this year complaining publicly about his own party

Thursday that a "credible conservative" movement that doesn't focus on "hatred" of President Obama is needed.

This guy and this statement optimizes what the GOP has become and is. The 'reach across the aisle', no backbone, conciliatory wimps. The stand for nothing, acquiescing, Marxist/liberal embracing memes. The GOP has become nothing but platitudes. Money and war have become its central planks otherwise there is no distinction between parties and other then finances even that distinction is slight. They stand for nothing, for us, as people. They are not conserving a damn thing!

Dabney was right:

“[Its] history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation.

What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution, to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward to perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt hath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it be salted? Its impotency is not hard to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It tends to risk nothing serious for the sake of truth.”

What does Mr. Inglis mean by “Optimistic conservativism”?

From Inglis’ views and opinions it doesn’t seem that distinct or separable from ordinary, run of the mill, liberalism.

There weren't a dimes worth difference between him and Spratt.

Except for the seemingly invulnerable Clyburn-our Tea Party voters swept the state but good and that means only proven CONSERVATIVE presidential hopefuls have a chance when they come here—and we ain't gonna fall again for another Huckabee shuck and jive—i.e.,drawing enough social conservatives voters to give the state to another RINO.
