111th Congress Added More Debt Than First 100 Congresses Combined: $10,429 Per Person in U.S. Monday, December 27, 2010 By Terence P. Jeffrey

(CNSNews.com) - The federal government has accumulated more new debt--$3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29)—during the tenure of the 111th Congress than it did during the first 100 Congresses combined, according to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury.

That equals $10,429.64 in new debt for each and every one of the 308,745,538 people counted in the United States by the 2010 Census.

The total national debt of $13,858,529,371,601.09 (or $13.859 trillion), as recorded by the U.S. Treasury at the close of business on Dec. 22, now equals $44,886.57 for every man, woman and child in the United States.

In fact, the 111th Congress not only has set the record as the most debt-accumulating Congress in U.S. history, but also has out-stripped its nearest competitor, the 110th, by an astounding $1.262 trillion in new debt.

>> $10,429 [more] Per Person in U.S.

>> $44,886.57 total debt per person.

It’s much worse than that since only a small percentage of the population will bear that cost. Even if every family shared the tax burden equally with 4 members each, the additional debt would be $42k, the total $180k.

I estimated last year it was somewhere around $165k per family. I was wrong.

This is equivalent to paying for another family’s mortgage besides your own.

If they would leave me alone for the rest of my life, I would write a check for 62,574 for my wife and four children today. What are the chances of them leaving me alone after that????? None of course.

The majority of people can’t see the problem with the debt because, as far as they’re concerned, they won’t be billed for the debt. Somebody else will.

I think I read several months ago that it was more like $207,000 per actual TAXPAYER.

Headlines like this make me so glad that our Republican party establishment picked the guy who doubled the size of my county's sheriff's department in 10 years over the TEA party guy who really knows (and cares about) the Constitution and has some experience with frugal living (having been unemployed before running in the primary, and living on a very small salary from his campaign during the primary).

We really need Republican Congress critters with experience growing government to represent us in the Congress.

My prediction, the 112th Congress will add even more debt than the 111th. This will continue until the debt crisis causes a complete breakdown of our government. We may well be past the point of no return now.

Well healthcare and tax hikes should take a big bite out of the debt and put us solidly on the road to recovery.
