...Palin was able to shame the Democrats into dropping aggressive end-of-life counseling from ObamaCare during passage, but like everything else about the most disastrous bill of the modern era, it was a lie. The New York Times approvingly reports (Saturday) that the Administration is quietly restoring these provisions through regulation, specifically a Medicare policy that will “pay doctors who advise patients on options for end-of-life care, which may include advance directives to forgo aggressive life-sustaining treatment.” And just who will be writing those “advance directives?” I’d say the odds of this Orwellian government naming it the “Life Panel” are better than even.
The new policy pays doctors to conduct “voluntary advance care planning to discuss end-of-life treatment” during annual checkups. Dr. Maria J. Silveira of the University of Michigan describes the sort of question doctors might ask: “If you have another heart attack and your heart stops beating, would you want us to try to restart it? Do you want to go on a breathing machine for the rest of your life? When the time comes, do you want us to use technology to try and delay your death?”...
... The most amazing part of the New York Times story is an email from Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon) to his accomplices back in early November, when these new regulations were being drafted:
“While we are very happy with the result, we won’t be shouting it from the rooftops, because we aren’t out of the woods yet. This regulation could be modified or reversed, especially if Republican leaders try to use this small provision to perpetuate the ‘death panel’ myth… We would ask that you not broadcast this accomplishment out to any of your lists, even if they are ‘supporters’ – emails can too easily be forwarded… Thus far, it seems that no press or blogs have discovered [the new Medicare regulations], but we will be keeping a close watch and may be calling on you if we need a rapid, targeted response. The longer this goes unnoticed, the better our chances of keeping it.”
In other words, you knuckle-dragging imbecile voters might get all riled up if you knew about their glorious triumph, so the Democrats wanted to keep it on the down-low. They were able to complete the process of putting these regulations together behind closed doors, untroubled by any concerned citizens who might have received an email that accidentally got forwarded outside of the conspiracy.
Memo to Democrats: Your days of running our lives through secret meetings are over. If people like Palin and the blogging “Army of Davids” don’t expose you, the new Republican House majority will do it with subpoenas. We’ve had our fill of wonderful plans that require unquestioning obedience from citizens who aren’t smart enough to understand their true magnificence. I wonder how many more little surprises oversight committees will find crawling quietly around in the dark underbelly of ObamaCare, once they turn their flashlights on the aura of secrecy and deception surrounding this misbegotten bill. Let us kill it quickly through defunding, and put people like Earl Blumenauer under oath to learn what else they’ve been doing behind our backs, while we wait for someone to take the veto pen away from Obama in 2012.

I guess I’m a little confused: we ask all of our clients who come to us for estate planning if they want a directive to physicians (living will), because it puts them in charge of the decision whether to use “heroic measures” to keep them alive it they’re in an irreversible or terminal condition, rather than leaving the decision to family members who may disagree on whether Mom ought to be left on life support when there’s truly no hope. I don’t have a big problem with that. It does NOT, as many think, mean that if I get in a car wreck and am at the ER, the doc can look at my file and say, “no soup for you”.

Most physicians speak with their patients about these things voluntarily, when appropriate. Making a decision whether or not to accept chemotherapy, or be listed for a heart transplant, or to refuse resuscitation is a very personal one. The government should keep its nose out of it.
Along these lines, the general success rate for drug rehab programs ranges from 2-20% (though some claim to be much higher). Those percentages are similar to the treatment successes for some of the ‘end of life’ treatments the democrats would like to restrict. Would they support ending funding for drug rehab programs because they are ‘not cost effective’?

The situation for many years (and I have no problem with this) is that a cancer patient (for example) follows a "protocol" -- you take a certain medicine, at certain dose, for a certain amount of time. You don't deviate. You don't "add" additional medicine "to see if it will help". The protocol is pretty rigid, so that doctors can understand what is happening with you and can apply this to a broad range of other patients.
Sure, people can grouse about it, but it's done for pretty solid medical reasons.
But with increased government involvement, and tighter financial controls, the options for patients will be reduced. Based on your age, your weight, your blood pressure, the protocol is to give you pain medication. What? Dialysis? No, I'm afraid that's not indicated in your situation. The protocol indicates that it would be inadvisable. Sorry.
What they just told you is that dialysis is expensive, and you're not worth it.

DHS later said that the report was not an attempt to squash First Amendment Rights for conservatives----only "hate groups"---- but, there was NO attempt to exempt anyone from these broad generalizations. Obama/Incompetano's report paints EVERY ASPECT OF AMERICAN CONSERVATISM as "suspect."
This is indicative of a very disturbing government mindset. Ohaha/Incompetano's documented hatred of Americans, and their orders to L/E to surveil and supress Americans......contrasts sharply with their kid glove handling of drug lords, savages, and terrorists bent on violence and destruction.
