2 Days to Print and 50 Hours to Read: GOP Will Recite Entire Spending Bill on Senate Floor

It took two days to print and it will take even longer to read.

According to The Hill, Senate Republicans are going through with a plan to have the entire omnibus spending bill read on the Senate floor, a feat that won’t be completed for 50 hours. Republicans have vowed to vote against the 1,924-page, $1.1 trillion bill that is loaded with billions in earmarks.

“Senate clerks are expected to read the massive bill in rotating shifts around the clock — taking breaks to drink water and pop throat lozenges — to keep legislative business on track, according to a Democratic leadership aide,” The Hill reports.

That would mean any Senate business would be stalled until Saturday evening.

“If they bring this up, they’re going to read it. It’ll take them a day or two to read it,” Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), who’s been pushing for the recitation, told Fox News. “Again, we’re trying to run out the clock. They should not be able to pass this kind of legislation in a lame-duck Congress.”

This is all theater. It gives the Republicans something to ‘stop’ the Democrats on while the Democrats are given every last commie wet dream they can think of for Christmas. Hell, it’ll still probably pass, but they’ll have ‘fought the good fight’. You know, for the folks.

Any senator who does not sit through the entire reading with his eyes and ears propped open should not be allowed to vote aye on it.

“Senate clerks are expected to read the massive bill in rotating shifts around the clock..."

Democraps will call this torture and have it added to the Geneva Convention ban. The clerk union will join in going on strike and Michael Moore will make a documentary about it...

After they have finished reading it could they offer some insignificant amendment that would get agreed by a majority & THEN FORCE A READING AGAIN?

Yeah right. And tomorrow I’ll read thathe Repubs backed down from their request because someone in the press might say bad things about them.

More bluster from the spinless repubs.

There are maybe 20 Republicans in the Senate who have any interest at all in stopping this. The rest will stamp down any stuff like that. Sorry to say, the fix is in.

The Democrats have gone completely over the edge into the realm of the insane.

The craziness in congress has reached the point where either the nation or the bizarre behavior of the democrats will have to go - they cannot both exist at the same time.

If the democrats don’t return to a reasonable semblance of sanity there won’t be an America to save.

I am amazed that any halfway normal person with a modicum of intelligence and self respect would associate with, or vote for, this collection of evil hearted, clownish buffoons.

They (any conservative members of both houses, few that they may be) need to do EVERYTHING possible to prevent any of this garbage from passing during this cursed session.
