'All Hell' breaking loose in Senate over budget
examiner.com ^ | 12/14/2010 | Joe Newby

Posted on 12/15/2010 6:35:08 AM PST by FredJake

An unidentified GOP source told Fox News Tuesday that "All hell is breaking loose" in the Senate over a 1,924-page spending bill that includes 20,000 earmark requests.

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) and Jim DeMint (R-SC) will likely demand the omnibus bill be read in its entirety on the Senate floor prior to a vote.

Fox News reported the bill - described as "a total mess" - is intended to cover the rest of the current fiscal year. If passed, the bill would become law without any debate in the Senate.

Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-HI), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said the bill must pass:

"The twelve bills included in this package fulfill the Congress' most basic responsibility, to exercise the power of the purse," he said in a statement. "This measure reflects a year's worth of work by members of both parties. Together, we have closely scrutinized the president's budget request, held hundreds of hearings, thousands of meetings, and asked literally tens of thousands of questions to each and every federal department and agency seeking justification for how taxpayer dollars are being spent."

But in a statement released Tuesday, John Cornyn (R-TX) said the Democrats - who still control both chambers of Congress - have "already forgotten the voters' message in November."

John McCain echoed that sentiment, saying:

“That omnibus bill will be loaded down with earmarks and pork barrel spending, which is a direct — a direct — betrayal of the majority of voters on Nov. 2 who said ‘Stop the earmarking, stop the spending, stop the pork barrel projects"

Boehner, McConnell, gone if they let this pass. Is it even possible for the Republicans to grow a spine and do what the people want them to do??

I think the time is coming and coming very very soon for an armed populace to march on Washington in order to take the country back from the communist dictators now in charge of our government and the US Congress.

Were that to actually happen, it would place the US Army in a very difficult position, as I can guarantee they would be called on to preserve order regardless of the right and will of the people to kick their governments booty.

Why bother?

We’re already Trillions in debt and spending money we don’t why do we need to pass a bill to do more of it?

The time for pitchforks is here.

Earmarks and pork are actually a side show. You could eliminate all of it and we still couldn’t balance our budget.

The Dims want to stick it to us one more time while they still have the power. Too bad Harry Reid didn’t get voted out. The Republicans need to back away from this and start over in the new Congress. But, I’m afraid they won’t.

....so they basically don’t have a clue what it says and couldnt care less.

I think it was Michigan Congresshole John Conyers who said as much during the CastroCare debate.

Something like, "What good would it do for us to read a 1,000 page bill before we vote on it?"

Here. Listen to him for your own self.

Conyers: Why read the bill?

Make your voice heard.....call and call again the offices of your elected. This 2,000 page fraudulent bill is probably 98% UNCONSTITUTIONAL - anything in a bill that is unconstitutional must be thrown out.

Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-HI), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said the bill must pass:..........bring him before the American people to explain why this bill must pass! NO BILL MUST PASS WHICH HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY READ, DISCUSSED, AND MADE PUBLIC. Tea Party....get in there and start screaming. GOP should start screaming we should all start screaming and demanding a cease and desist hold be put on this pile of garbage.

Not if the majority of the military feel that Obama is not a legitimate president.

If it includes funding for Obamacare; that, on it's own, is reason to fillibuster it citing the Un-Constitutionality and pending litigation of it....

Thes Socialist bastards are ramming through ALL their favored takeovers before January. In January, de-funding begins, we hope (I doubt the new Congress will do ANYTHING to right the course, as they haven't done it with past Majorities).

The Representative still has the ability to just say, “No.” The Representative either is in control of their staff or they are not. If they are not, then they have no reason to be in office. I refuse to accept the excuse of “the staff made me do it.”

Wow. How could 100 Senators have written 20,000 earmarks so fast? Especially when they only work 3 days a week.

According to the article, they've been planning this for months. That also means they've calculated exactly when to release it so that there would be enough time to get it passed, but not enough time to read it.

When you go shopping, you pull out your wallet, right?
They keep earmarks on hand; they’re considered currency
to buy votes.

That’s the sad thing...many of them have already been voted out. This is their last chance to say F*** You America.

I wonder if we shot a couple of them if we could get them to change their behavior?

Our forefathers would be shooting by now.

A report on Fox this morning said a Dim senator said they had been working on this for a year.

I’m already embarrassed about that crybaby Boehner. He is third in line for POTUS (can you imagine Boehner being tough against ruskies or iranians, or just starting to weep??) and wimp number 1 who is crying how great journey this has been for him. Who cares, this is not about him, this is about America.

Both Boehner and McConnell are wimps, first class who will be easily outmaneuvered by dems.
