Palin to Haiti with Graham
Politico ^ | 12/9/10 at 7:14 PM EST | Andy Barr

Posted on 12/09/2010 6:44:27 PM PST by Josh Painter

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is heading to Haiti this weekend with evangelist Franklin Graham, a Palin source confirmed to POLITICO.

Palin and Graham will visit a cholera clinic in addition to other stops, as was first reported by CNN.

The Haiti visit was the second foreign trip to surface Thursday. Palin is also planning possible visits next year to Israel and Britain.

The Haiti trip could serve two distinct political purposes for Palin.

First, it provides an opportunity to expand her image and policy portfolio beyond her limited image as a darling of the tea party movement.

Second, she'll be able to better establish her claim to evangelical voters if she chooses to seek the Republican presidential nomination. Evangelicals overwhelmingly supported former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, one of Palin's potential 2012 rivals, in the early 2008 GOP primaries and caucuses.

Hey, everybody just stay out of haiti!!

I am sick of pouring in billions to these God forsaken hell holes run by con men called “Leaders”...we give and give and the people get worse and worse and then hate us anyways.

I would not mind IF—and that is a big IF==we could control how and where the $$ goes. But we can’t.

so Graham and Palin going down there doesn’t impress me one bit...might as well be Clinton.

FIRST and foremost, it establishes her as a caring Christian who is concerned for her fellow man.

Who let the grinch on here?

They are going to provide aid to people, not the bloody government. It’s an act of Christian Charity, Scrooge. They’re financing this with money that was freely given, not tax money, and not your money.

Bless your dark little heart anyway.

Even more so if she would have done this earlier.

Hey hippie, Christians aren’t called to help only the poor people who “deserve it” or as long as they don’t “hate us.”

Jesus said to help them PERIOD.

As a matter of fact he said to be especially kind to your enemies.

Haiti is full of very nice people.

Unfortunately, the poor (about 80% of Haitians) support whatever socialist/fascist/scammer promises them an end to grinding poverty.

And even the best of Haiti’s leaders have to deal with corruption on a massive scale. If Haiti could cut the corruption by 70-80%, and respect private property, their land is highly fertile and they would be able to export enough food and lumber to support themselves, and build up over time like Hong Kong or Singapore.

The citizens of Haiti are suffering an horrific, abysmal existence right now. Any attention and hopefully aid that can be focused to ease their suffering right now is HELPFUL. I do not believe that Sarah Palin would ever entertain this as a photo-op, she can make a difference.

Also, we need to protect THIS hemisphere (for a change). In case some haven’t noticed (not this audience),enemies are making steady encroachments. Stay safe, Sarah.
