A University of Colorado student who started wearing hijab after converting to Islam is fighting the Boulder County Jail's insistence that she remove her headscarf for a booking photo, saying that to do so would violate her religious beliefs.
Maria Hardman, 19, of Boulder, reported to the jail Wednesday to do the paperwork for a two-day work crew sentence that was supposed to be served this weekend. But when a jail detention officer told her to remove her headscarf for her mug shot, she balked.
"It's stated in the Koran in two or three places that believing women should wear the veil, except in the company of close family members," she said.
Hardman said she spent three hours at the jail while her lawyer tried to convince officials to let her take the picture with her scarf. She eventually was allowed to leave the jail without taking a picture at all. She said she was told she would be found in contempt of court for being out of compliance with her sentence.

I might add that she is now a criminal and
that really limits her rights and options.
Slap her in jail and keep her there until
she complies with the sentence given her.

LOL! She blew a .19 and is claiming she “didn’t know” she was drinking alcohol.
She wasn’t just over the limit, she blew .19. That’s pretty much muhammad-faced drunk. Assuming she’s about 110 lbs, she would still have had about 5 drinks.
She is only 19 and was driving while seriously intoxicated. She’s lucky she isn’t facing 6 months jail rather than a slap on the wrist.
She should also be happy to be living and uninjured.

She broke the law and committed a crime for which she needed to be booked and was sentenced by the court for punishment.
And removing the veil is against her religion?

If she got in a wreck would she allow the doctors to take off her rag?

Make her give the appropriate Koran references to back up her assertions. If other devout, muslim women shed their head covering it means that the Koran allows it.

This entire article is a case-in-point.
If we of “The West” were intent on winning, when that woman exclaimed she would not remove her headscarf for the booking photo, it would have promptly BEEN REMOVED for her, and then the picture taken as it is for everyone else.
That’s “winning”.

Since she looks like an ango saxon convert she won’t be a real moslem until her future moslem spouse gives her a black eye or whatever. Currently, she is a poser looking for attention and is getting her moneys worth.
I hope she finds and marries a Muslim man who follows Sharia. See how fast she would run back to mommy and daddy.
If what she had on her head in the video is what she had on in the jail, I don’t see any reason for it to be removed. Her face is plainly visible.
However, I would THROW her in jail (and throw away the key)for talking the way she does....every sentence is a question??? Like - you know what I mean? Like - you know what I’m saying? Crikey!
Muslims have gone on record as saying there is nothing in the Koran that requires Muslim women to cover up - only a requirement to be modest in dress. I understand they have multiple cultures that interpret the Koran in hundreds of different ways and they are trying to make everyone adopt a culture that is not standard throughout.
You know what I’m saying??????? Her parents are being taken if they are paying for this dope’s education! But perhaps they live in Boulder and therefore, have the $$$$ to throw away.
