Zetas, Gulf Cartel and Mexican military clash in Matamoros
The Brownsville Herald ^ | December 02, 2010

Posted on 12/02/2010 9:28:14 AM PST by SwinneySwitch

Gunfire and roadblocks were reported Wednesday evening in Matamoros as armed gunmen with the Gulf Cartel and the Zetas organization clashed with the Mexican military in a three-way confrontation, sources stated.

One of the international bridges to Brownsville was closed.

Tractor-trailers were used to block off various avenues in Matamoros, including Lauro Villar, Avenida Solidaridad, Avenida del Nino and other main thoroughfares, in an effort to keep military vehicles from getting through, according to a Mexican law enforcement official who asked not to be named for security reasons.

A source with the Mexican military who asked not to be named said authorities closed off Los Tomates-Veterans International Bridge in response to the violence.

Mexican Marines, army troops and federal police officers were deployed throughout the city as they responded to the various firefights, the source said.

Military helicopters were seen flying over the city as they provided air support to troops on the ground.

According to a source with firsthand knowledge of criminal activity in Matamoros, the violence began when members of the Zetas were seen trying to enter Matamoros and Gulf Cartel members went to confront them. Mexican authorities reportedly arrived shortly afterward.

The source said that several Gulf Cartel strike teams from Reynosa, including teams known as Los Zeros, Los M’s and Los Lobos, were sent to Matamoros to reinforce the Gulf Cartel.

Some sources have said that the Zetas are trying to take advantage of a perceived power vacuum in the Gulf Cartel since the recent death of Ezekiel "Tony Tormenta" Cardenas Guillen, one of the leaders of the cartel.

Wednesday’s violence in Matamoros reportedly began on Avenida del Nino and moved to Lauro Villar, one of the city’s main streets. From there it spread to other areas.

Reports Wednesday evening were that a prominent member of the Gulf Cartel was either captured or killed, but that could not be confirmed.

Residents in some areas of Brownsville said they heard grenade explosions and gunfire from across the border.

A resident of Matamoros who goes to work at 8:30 p.m. said employees of the company where she is employed were called and told not to report for work.

It was not known how many people were killed or injured in the violence.

On Monday, authorities had announced the capture of five men after an intense firefight on the outskirts of Matamoros. In that encounter, four police officers were injured, according to an official press release.

On Wednesday, it was announced that a series of military operations last weekend resulted in the capture of 12 men, reportedly members of the Gulf Cartel or the Zetas, and the seizure of arms and cash.

Who, oh-by-the-way, will receive asylum status, along with every other illegal from there.

We should just herd every illegal back into Mexico and make them clean up their own country instead of bringing all their corruption and drug 'culture' over here.

Homeowners in Brownsville and surrounding area better NOT throw them off the lawn either. They will sue for violation
of their civil rights.

Ask Texas ranchers...... They have been sued.

Better to just give them a tent and let them inside to pee. Don’t forget to give them your alarm code. They may get
hungry when you are at work and need to get in the fridge.

Good Luck......... Adios.

Can somebody explain to me how the United States can basically operate with impunity all over the globe and take out our enemies on the executive orders findings of the president, yet we can’t send Black Ops and the CIA to take out the drug cartels in Mexico?

George Bush 1 invaded Panama and arrested Noriega for much less than what the Mexican narco-terrorists are doing now along the borders and in the cities of the United States.

El Paso/Jaurez is the largest border city in the entire world. What would happen if this battle moves to Jaurez with its 2 million plus population?

Will Mexicans sit patiently in their cardboard houses waiting for it to stop instead of facing 3,000 border agents?

Would you? Seriously ask yourselve what would you do as a Mexican citizen if you had children to protect. What would you do? This problem is om much more complex and large than people realize.

What most of Americans (especially policy makers) fail to see is that Meixco is no longer a state able to goveren. The long term efforts of our govenrment in foreign policy have completely ignored the Monore doctrine. We’re now worried about the Chinese military? Seriously, does any in the world think that China could mount an invasion of our soil? No.

While we have been so focused on Asia (a half a world away) our freaking neighbor state has almost completely collapsed leaving only us holding the bag.

It is time for our foreign policy to receive a complete overhaul.

Because they (The Mexican people) have been too arrogant to ask the gringos for help. Now, reading today on FR that Calderon has been requesting such, big idiot Zero refuses because of the Illegal Alien/Sympathizer voting bloc.

...get ready for increasing swarms of ‘foot people’ fleeing Mexico if the violence continues.

That is right. Been going on for generations. In Mexico the rich just keep on getting richer and the poor go to "el norte". In Mexico, the elite rich bankers seem to be about the only ones safe from these killings. None the less, bankers there send their sons and grandsons here, too. But not to work. To be professional politicians!

Professional political resume enhancer, the former US Representative (D-NM), Governor (D-NM), UN ambassador, DOE secretary;, V.P. hopeful (D), and first Latino(Mexican/American)(D)Presidential candidate hopeful, Bill Richardsons' mother is an heiress to one of the wealthiest banking families in Mexico. Groomed from his earliest childhood, at the best eastern schools, and raised in DC, he then moved to New Mexico and ran unopposed in a gerrymandered NM district created just for him. Back to Washington he went. Making his mom proud! The rest is political history.

Just prior to leaving the Gov. Mansion in New Mexico under a cloud of exposed corruption, he leaves the state in massive debt, and he announced that the state was more in debt than previously disclosed. His green energy rules, high speed rail, space port to nowhere, new jet plane, constant five star trips, and shutting down oil and gas drilling (and all the state revenue it produced), have bankrupted the state leaving the first woman to ever hold the office, the incoming (R) Governor Sandra Martinez in a deep financial pit and up against a Democrat controlled state congress. Hopefully her office will seek to reopen the investigations.May she weild a mighty veto pen as did the last Republican governor when he balanced the budget with it.

Crickets sound...

Thanks to the Holder DOJ, Richardson is now narrowly avoiding a trial and possible prison sentence if convicted in a pay to play scheme the FBI investigated and witnesses testified that he ran during his administration. Just like in the Black Panther voter intimidation case, but without any of the publicity, the case was ordered dropped even though the evidence was irrefutable.

Crickets sound...

Beware the military/industrial DemocRAT/BANKSTER complex !!!

“Seriously, does any in the world think that China could mount an invasion of our soil? No.”
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

After seeing What the Chinese have done with their military in the last twenty years, I don’t doubt what they will do in the next twenty if we keep sending them vast amounts of “free trade” money.

They surely want to dominate the western pacific rim, if not the world, by carrying the biggest stick. Would they invade us? Who knows.
What’s our military going to look like in twenty years? Will we be broke? Will we still be one nation? Don’t
bet on anything.

As for Juarez.... if the law abiding citizens of that city want to clean their house, then we should provide each with
a surplus carbine and a few magazines for such. But third worlders like that more often take the path of least
resistance and flee the crap storm until it blows over.

I don’t think so, ST. May be remnants of the Los Zetas or new units recruited to replace them by the Gulf Cartel in Reynosa.
