POLITICO: Crashing the big Democratic donors' D.C. meeting
POLITICO ^ | November 17, 2010 | KENNETH P. VOGEL & JESSICA TAYLOR

Some of the Democratic Party’s biggest donors met Tuesday afternoon with influential party figures such as AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka, organizer Joan Fitz-Gerald and former White House aide Van Jones to discuss the lessons and implications of the GOP’s landslide midterm election victory.

The meeting – organized by a group of wealthy, politically active liberals called the Democracy Alliance – took place at Washington’s swank Mandarin Oriental hotel, where off-duty police officers and other security patrolled the halls looking for reporters and other uninvited guests, who were escorted from the premises.

"The agreement is that everything that goes on here is confidential," one adviser to major liberal donors said while waiting for a taxi outside the hotel. “I didn't come up with the policy, but I think it serves the purposes of allowing people to speak freely and let their hair down,” said the adviser, who did not want to be identified violating the agreement.

Among the donors spotted at the conference on Tuesday, the second day of the three-day gathering, were former Stride Rite chairman Arnold Hiatt, hedge fund financier Donald Sussman, electronics pioneer Bill Budinger, real estate developer Wayne Jordan and Suzanne Hess, the wife of real estate mogul Lawrence Hess.

There was no sign of some of the deepest-pocketed Democracy Alliance members, such as tech entrepreneur Tim Gill, insurance magnate Peter Lewis, or billionaire financier George Soros, though Michael Vachon, a Soros representative, did attend.

AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka is a terrorist. He sent his UMWA members and families on terrorist missions during the in Southwest Virginia miners strike

Trumka and Sweeney before him gave millions upon millions to Democrats. A majority of union pension funds are severely underfunded and indications are that the unions will askthe Federal Govt. (that is you and me) fora bail out.

We have to stay vigilant on this one.

Interesting to see a few bigwigs supporting the commies. It’s amazing who will be drawn to graft and corruption. I’d like to see a complete list of attendees so that I know who cannot be trusted. It’s good to know one’s enemy.

“Karl Rove and others on the right have shown an instinct for the political jugular that our side lacks.”

Interesting quote. The ONLY time I've seen Rove go for the political jugular is when he unloaded on Christine O'Donnell. Otherwise, he's been a mouse. A RINO mouse.

And that is why he will forever be known as Tokyo Rove.

He also never disclosed that he was working on behalf of RINO Mike Castle in December, 2009 when he met with the Delaware 9-12 Patriots and the various Tea Party groups in DE to get them to unite behind Castle.

They told him to get lost.

I think Tokyo Rove envisioned a write-in campaign for Castle(which Castle ultimately decided against)and wanted a pre-emptive strike against O'Donnell.

'Birds of a Feather' outing/sighting.

Would love to see 'more names' of the Communists who attended this 'Democracy-NOT-Alliance' prep rally; and suspect in time, we will.

Meantime, have lost any longstanding, 'warm fuzzies' for Stride Right. ('Who knew'. . .)

This thread is not about Rove! It's about Democrats and their big money people!

You should sit up and pay attention since the Dems love to make the Republicans the party of money and then a thing like this happens when the Dems money people all come together.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at that meeting! Perhaps I would have heard something like 'We paid all this money, didn't get Card-Check and didn't get our Socialism', 'Why the heck should we continue to contribute the big bucks while you shilly-shally?'.

Interesting quote.

Yes, and have heard it before; just cannot remember 'who'said this a while back, on Fox News interview. Either the 'unnamed source' himself; or perhaps a talking point; when it comes to assailing Rove while attempting to ascribe some humanity- and excuse - to the Demrats. It has carried well, politically; as taken note here.

Hey guys, how’s that hope and change working out for you.

Getting rich because the economy is booming again?

You may be getting rich but not the old fashioned way. You aren’t earning your loot you’re stealing it from the US treasury, thanks to Obamao.

I should pay attention?

I was responding to meyer’s comment about Karl Rove and O’Donnell in post #7.

Maybe you need to pay closer attention.
