Hey Fieldmarshal, explain this to me.

If Giannoulias had won and he had been indicted (I doubt he will be indicted but, for the sake of argument, lets’s say he is) then Quinn could have appointed anyone he wanted to replace him. So why was it necessary for the “combine” to let Kirk win?

C’mon, China Lake, you’re not that naive. Let’s presume for a moment that Kirk had been a Conservative Reformist (*snicker*), first off, he’d never have been allowed to run, not for Senator (or if he had, he’d have had to prepare for unholy hell from the Criminal Outfit, just like Pete Fitzgerald got), and secondly, if he somehow had gotten the nod with those credentials and Alexi had won the Dem nod, Alexi would’ve been yanked (or forced) off the ballot faster than you can say Jack Ryan. He would’ve been replaced by another hack Combiner without a looming indictment... and said hack would’ve then “won” the election fair and square... Chicago “fair and square”, that is. Same way the Mighty Quinn won... y’know... “fair and square.”

As for whom the Combine lets win, sometimes it’s better for them to have their “R” puppet win or the “D” puppet win, sometimes it doesn’t matter which. I pity the fools out there that think Illinois politics is like other states where it’s Republican vs. Democrat. It ain’t, and it hasn’t been for as long as things have been done the Chicago Way. Bipartisan corruption in Illinois is as Chicago as the wind blowing off the lake. Too bad the folks in DC only pay desultory attention to it. Not until good government types get control of “Just-Us” perhaps will we begin to hack away at the epic-scale chicanery and criminality.

I spent a fair amount of time looking at the numbers myself and it's never made sense that Kirk carried suburban C(r)ook county while Brady was virtually persona non grata. I've been all over the southwest suburbs (Palos area, Orland, etc..) and didn't see a single Quinn sign. Brady signs I saw all over.

I don't know if I can go so far as saying the election was "fixed" but I'm darn sure having a hard time finding any other logical reason for the results ....

I'm just glad I don't live in C(r)ook county. Not that Will is much better, but at least it's not C(r)ook.

Billyboy gave me a list of every polling place in Orland and I went through a dozen Brady signs the last two days. I live and work in Orland Park and never saw one Quinn sign, the incumbnent rat POS State Rep won by 1% and he's been office for over a dozen years against a political newcomer.

Judy Biggert, Roskam, Kinzinger won with HUGE HUGE HUGE numbers. There is no doubt in any of our minds that this wasn't fixed.

I am not exaggerating when I say I saw over 1000 Bill Brady in Orland Park, Tinley Park, Palos Park, Palos Heights and Homer Glen. And when I travelled to Naperville for church I saw Brady signs all over.

This election was fixed. Remember who runs the Secretary of State's office and that should give everyone their answer as to how Brady had this election stolen from him. While Diablo won then had a beer summitt with that sleazeball dirtbag Alexi.

I'm drinking wine and watching "The Pacific" I'm so f'ing disgusted with Illinois. Quinn said he now has a mandate to raise taxes so he can keep the unions happy.

Gawd I hope you're not talking about Judy Biggert. She's completely WORTHLESS. (Yes, she's my Rep. I can't stand her.)

She's my rep too and I have to say that she cares about the district first. She is in the district every weekend while many Congressmen stay in Washington or in Barney Frank's case, jets off with his boyfriend to the Bahamas.

While working with Judy Biggert in 04-06 we got a lot accomplished for the district. Judy isn't afraid of townhalls, she is open to meeting one on one with constituents.

Judy did a lot for me, she called me from DC on the day of my mother's funeral before she had to vote on some bill. That meant more to me than building roads, rebuilding schools, ect... Yes, it is personal but I think it shows her character.

And I can guarantee she is not part of the combine if you want the reasons why I can tell you in a FReepmail because I don't want to disclose private congressional work on an open forum.

Judy has a phenomenal staff and a tough as nails Chief of Staff.

And she went out of her way to try and get Brady elected by having multiple fundraisers at her home in Hindsdale with Bill Brady.

It was an honor to work with her and although we don't agree on every issue I rather have Judy represent me than who my dad has........ Bobby Rush.

>> I live and work in Orland Park and never saw one Quinn sign, the incumbent rat POS State Rep won by 1% and he's been office for over a dozen years against a political newcomer. <<

Indeed. That was pro-life RAT Kevin McCarthy. Note I highlighted the word pro-life because the Kirk shills are already starting their "gotta nominate RINOs to win" drumbeat for 2012 and "explaining" that Brady lost the Crook County suburbs because he was "too conservative on social issues" and it scared away "the moderate suburban women". Gee, funny how being pro-life didn't hurt ANY of the combine-approved candidates. How come all those "moderate suburban women" didn't vote in droves AGAINST Lipinksi, McCarthy, etc., when they were quite vocal about their opposition to abortion? They could be 100% pro-life, 100% pro-abortion, whatever, they'd still win suburban Crook County no matter what. Isn't it interesting how ONLY conservative Republicans "have to" run as Obama clones to "win"?

I've noticed at least three pro-Kirk posters here that insisted he campaigned throughout suburbia have all admitted they live in Kirk's district. Isn't it intersting how the rest of us NEVER saw Kirk set foot in our communities and yet he "won" the areas Brady lost? One pro-Kirk freepers says she saw Kirk workin' hard for the GOP in the Northbrook GOP victory office all the time. That's Kirk's OWN congressional district. Was he running for U.S. Senator from Illinois or U.S. Senator for the 10th District? To give a little perspective to freepers from outside Illinois, Northbrook has a population of 5,000 people. The entire township it's in, New Trier, has a population of 52,000. The demographics are very different from most of the state, it's heavily WASP, Jewish, ivy-league, and upper-class. Former U.S. Senate Jack Ryan is from there too (he donated to Eric Wallace! No wonder the combine threw Jack Ryan overboard) Those are the Cook County suburbs that Kirk "worked".

Now, as the other 90% suburbs where he was AWOL... Orland Park has a population about 85,000 alone, and Orland Township as a whole has a population of 100,000. Brady was out there tons of times. Kirk decided it wasn't worth his time. Worth Township has a population of 158,000. Oak Lawn alone has 65,000. Again, plenty of appearances by Brady but not one Kirk sighting. Aurora, Illinois had an estimated population of 173,000 in 2008. Chris Lauzen's annual Porky Picnic in Aurora attracts a HUGE crowd every summer. Every statewide candidate was there this summer, and Brady was the star attraction. Except Kirk. It wasn't worth his time. Nearby Naperville, Illinois has a population of 145,235. Plenty of Brady sightings. No Kirk. Directly south of Cook County is Will County, the fastest growing county in the state. Plenty of suburban votes out there. Bolingbrook, IL has 72,000 people. The Homer-Lockport-Mokena area probably has about 90,000 combined. Lots of Brady showings and tea party rallies there. Absolutely no apperances from Mark Kirk.

As everyone else who lives in suburban Cook has discussed here, Brady signs outnumbered Quinn signs about 3-to-1 when you'd drive around looking at front lawns. I didn't even see ONE Quinn sign until a month before the election, and that was in the Chicago neighborhood of Mt. Greenwood. Kirk probably had about 80% of the signs on front lawns that Brady did. owing to the fact many conservatives would refuse to put Kirk's stuff up. And yet the numbers show Brady got only 38% of the vote in suburban Crook County. There is absolutely no way those numbers can match the enviroment we had in this region for months.

I know I'm speaking the choir here, but I'm posting this to reinforce all the talking points from Kirk fans about how it's "Brady's fault" he lost and that Kirk "appealed more to suburban voters" is a total and absolute lie. This election was stolen, and we have the evidence to prove it.

Are you taking into consideration that Kirk won’t vote that differently from Burris ?

i am commenting on the apparent fact that neither burris nor kirk will be there to provide vote #60 during this lameDuck session, first 2 weeks.

There are 600 bills waiting to be passed in the senate that already passed the House.

I’d keep an eye out more on the Class of 2006 Democrat Senators for whom are seriously endangered for reelection in 2012. I think they may be very reluctant to support massive spending bills.

the 600 bills have little to do with spending. A variety of liberal garbage that will never get repealed. Cuz of the fillibuster.

Burris was appointed December 30, 2008 and sworn in January 15, 2009. Kirk should be seated in the same time frame, which would be next week, RINO or not.

Oh, I know you're not exaggerating, I think you're probably under-estimating. My experience driving through the same areas was very similar to yours. Not a single Quinn sign, more Brady signs than I could've possibly counted.

Conservative Illinois voters are already disenfranchised by the simple fact that Kirk won in the first place.

"talking points from Kirk fans Kirk fans about how it's Brady's fault"

Kirk fans and Oberdouche fans who still think he ran in 2006 to hand the nomination to Topinka.

Brady should have hit Quinn a harder and better countered that "extremist" nonsense but it's his "fault" as much as it would your fault if were you mugged at gunpoint by a gang of thugs.

Mark Kirk got to vote on his very first bill today! He proudly voted YES on S. 510, Senator Dick Durbin’s so-called “Food Safety Modernization Act”, a massive piece of federal red-tape. It passed by 57 votes. Lisa Murkowski, Scott Brown, Snowe, Collins, Voinovich, Thune, and Kirk are among the few GOP “yes” votes.

The Sun-Times noted: ‘In a bi-partisan move, Chicago mayoral hopeful Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.), at the Kirk reception, invited the new junior senator to his West Side Chicago district for a town hall meeting. “Congratulaitons on a great victory. I know you are going to be good for the people of Illinois,” Davis told Kirk.’

Congrats to all the freepers who demanded Mark Kirk get “seated immediately”, you got your wish.
