Stinking in America: Is Not Washing the New PC Trend?
The New American ^ | 04 November 2010 | Selwyn Duke

Posted on 11/05/2010 7:45:30 AM PDT by Paladins Prayer

People such as me are often accused of wanting to return to the 19th century. But, if the New York Times is right about a new trend, some on the Left want to go back to the Middle Ages. What is that trend? Avoiding soap, deodorant, and even bathing regularly. Today, though, it’s often for environmental reasons.

It seems that top-notch Western hygiene has now joined SUVs, Wal-Mart, tobacco (not the wacky kind — it’s in fashion), guns, McDonald’s, and white males in the Museum of Politically Incorrect Persons, Places, and Things.

For example, Guardian writer Kira Cochrane tells us about 51-year-old environmentalist Donnachadh McCarthy, who boasts that he’s gotten his water consumption down to about “20 litres a day,” that he’s “as clean as everyone else,” and that he’s trying to reduce his “carbon footprint.”

If I were Donnachadh, I’d be more concerned about my stink footprint.

McCarthy seems to bemoan what Cochrane calls the fetishizing of extreme cleanliness and says that when he was a lad “the normal thing was to bathe once a week.” I don’t know, perhaps he spent his youth as part of a head-hunting tribe in Papua New Guinea, but during my stateside childhood in the 1970s, a daily shower was expected. I mean, even in 1950s programs such as Leave it to Beaver, the little boy who tried to avoid his nightly bath was often the stuff of comedy fare.

Showering once a day is a bit excessive if you are an office worker and don’t have any perspiration issues.

But if you work a physical job it is almost Mandatory.

I shower about 2-3 times a week, but I put on deodorant every morning and wear fresh clothes everyday. If shower everyday I find my hair gets too dry and starts to get brittle. I also check myself in the evenings so that if I start smelling even if I showered yesterday, I shower again. Common Sense prevails.

I shower everyday. There is no excuse for poor hygiene. A person may not be able to tell, but your co-workers do. I have had to work with them.

[ I know several extreme enviro/liberals who do this sort of thing. They will only flush the toilet with number 2 and they only bathe once or twice a week (at most). Their kids have the greasiest hair you have ever seen and dirt under their fingernails. Disgusting to me. Don’t even ask me about the women: no hair color, no make-up, Birkenstock sandals... Yuck. ]

Not to mention the “dog turd” brown dreadlocks I have had the displeasure of seeing on these yahooos. If I go into a resturaunt and someone is wearing them I leave immediately.

If the Progressives achieve the Dark Ages they’re working for they won’t be able to stand the smell of each other.

Oh, wait - - - that’s just for the rest of us. They’ll be in the palace all perfumed.

No, I just worked with people who bragged they only showered two or three times a week and were saving the environment. I was glad to be back in my little office with the door locked.

LOL! The so-called enlightened ones have found a rationale to smell like a turd.

Amazing how they more closely resemble savages the more “enlightened” they become.

This story is just a cover for all of the 3rd-world foreigners filling our country; instead of seeing what’s going on, we’ll attribute the stench to the few remaining Americans in the office instead of the horde of South Americans and Asians there...

“That is sooooo French..............”

The stench of of the French once was hidden
By smoke, but now smoking’s forbidden,
And since folks can’t abide
The foul odor, they hide
It with perfume - I’m not kiddin’.

Absolutely correct. If one has a biblical worldview, we all come from the same intelligent and enlightened ancestors (look at what Noah was able to build!). As societies move further from God, they lose knowledge and culture and regress to being what we call “primitive.” In my opinion so-called primitive people groups are actually those who have made the most progress away from God. God clearly emphasizes hygiene (Leviticus). Reject the Lord and eventually you reject all godliness...including cleanliness.

Depends on the climate too and the person, if I sweated more I would shower everyday, when i was a teenager I did shower everyday because I was an oil making machine. I carpool with someone who has a very sensitive nose, they let me know when I even start to smell. I also live in colorado, it is a very dry state compared to KY. There are certain times of the year I shower every day. But I always apply deorodorant and anti persperant every morning before gettign dressed and always wear fresh clothes. This is somethign Hippies don’t beleive in. I also wash my hands many times a day. I am a clean person, if I lived in a more humid state I would be showing everyday. But I always shower Sunday Night, Tuesday Night, and Thursday Night. I always get at least 3 showers in a week if not more.

Just saying, You don’t have to shower every night, but your milage may very depending on climate, genetics, and work environment.

I’ve noticed this with children and the last twenty years of non/guilt parenting. Don’t tell 14 year old Junior to shower b/c it might hurt his self esteem.

My hubby’s seven year old child did not know how to bathe himself and just stood in the shower playing with the drain and using zero soap.

Parents don’t teach their children hygiene, manners, proper behaviour anymore. They let the CHILD rule the roost; especially in divorce situations where the children are PITIED instead of being held to expectations (prime example OBAMA)

Bed bugs. No bathing.

Then the fleas, then the Black Plague - 30% reduction in the population and the environment is saved (for a while).

Oh my are our surgeons and nurses not going to wash after digging fecal matter, or prior to surgeries? Ugh! I couldn’t imagine the septicemia coming from unwashed items, terible hygiene, oops yes I can, I remember a little known country in ______*redacted* where more died of disease than the war. Hippies stink, PC wreaks, and this festering poop reminds me of seeing the “camps” where tree huggers hang out; what filth!
