"O’Donnell wasn’t a good candidate. "

So, Coons was better?

I don’t think Meg could possibly have won in California. She painted *herself* as Ah-nald II
Given the choice between a true Democrat and a RINO people will vote for the Democrat most of the time.

....Christine O’Donnell also showed courage by running for election at the risk of humiliation....

Hardly, running for the Delaware Senate seat was the closest thing that O’Donnell had to a job since roughly 2005. She’s the Music Man for Conservative Christians without that character’s self awareness. Little Christine is the idiot savant of political grifters. Please folks, cut your losses.

The only question that matters is this:

Would we, as conservatives, be better off if O'Donnell had won rather than Coons? I can't imagine how your answer would be anything other than "yes", and if the answer is "yes", then Rove, the RNC, and all of you misguided supposedly conservative freepers should have shut the f*** up and supported her.

O’Donnell was a terrible candidate. Karl Rove said he knew her for along time, she had baggage that would come out during the campaign.

Yes he did help W get elected Governor, defeating popular Ann Richards.

Rove does not hold public office. he gets paid for his opinion.

You say he is not responsible for W getting elected, But is for O’Donnell loosing.

Amen brother. Why Rove did was way beyond any dirty tricks I've seen in a long time. Congratulations Rove. I'm dedicating myself to sending you back to Texas. Permanently!

And Joe Biden is an intellectual giant?

During his first year there, he was accused of having plagiarized 5 of 15 pages of a law review article. Biden said it was inadvertent due to his not knowing the proper rules of citation, and he was permitted to retake the course after receiving a grade of F, which was subsequently dropped from his record.[18] He was admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1969.[17]

DW the facts would seem to contradict your position. CoD did NOT get a large percentage of Rep votes. Mostly from mainstream Rovian types (if the exit polling is accurate). In any case Rove’s attacks were in bad form.

Please this woman did not do herself any favors
ok Rove and Co. didnt help fine but she was about a flawed a candidate as you can get
anytime you have to defend yourself regarding witchcraft you pretty much lose the narrative of the race
please
she was a weak flawed candidate. Another bummer is Sharon Angle - they nominated the only one who could lose against Reid for crying out loud

Karl Rove broke “Reagan’s Law” about attacking our own. He is nothing in my eyes. Let him talk all he wants, he’s never to be trusted again.

Well said.

There is one FR meme I hope is now dead, dead, dead.

"So what if (candidate) has a dodgy background?? (Candidate) is as well qualified as Obama, and he's President!!"

Conservatives who are clearly serious thinkers and who have a serious resume, with no major baggage, WON.

Conservatives who did not clear those bars, LOST.

The LSM is always going to give conservatives those higher bars to clear. Do I like that? Hell no, but it is a fact of life. We need to accept that fact and run candidates who can clear them.

Rove didn’t make O’Donnell and he didn’t break her. She became a fruitloop all by herself and has only to look in the mirror to see the cause of her defeat.

Yeah. Thanks for stopping by. You can tell the Republican Party insiders that if they ever try something like this again there will be a third party. Maybe a tea Party. And the Republican Party will end up the losers.

Most everything I’ve ever heard from Rove is not about Republican/Conservative ideology, but about winning.

Rove is no different from Dick Morris. Neither of them care a whit about ideology; they're more interested in understanding what the electorate thinks and how that translates to the political sphere.

Great post.

We can’t say Obama is unqualified, and then justify supporting a candidate by saying they’re just as unqualified as Obama.

Not sure of the pertinence of that quote, since I hoped O’Donnell would win, but whatever.

Yeah, Rove also thought amnesty would usher in a permanent Republican majority. He’s responsible for many of the 2nd term intiatives Bush wanted to pursue and only SS reform was correct.

He may have the drive to win but he’s clearly biased toward a belief system that supports bigger government and the establishment structure being maintained even if it clashes with attaining majorities.

It wasn’t his doubt that she could win that is the issue (for me). I didn’t believe she’d win and I still supported her just because I didn’t want Castle in the Senate. The real issue is that he went out of his way to destroy her the very night she on. With their (public) support the victory of Coons may have not been double digits and maybe her presence on the tickets brings more conservatives to vote down the line on other candidates increasing their odds to win even if she couldn’t. They sabotaged the bottom ticket in their need to destroy her. That isn’t smart politics, it is the type of politics of a desperate establishment determined to destroy the conservative grassroots’s agenda to move power from their hands.

The HOuse was smarter. After Scozzy in NY21 they left the grassroots alone and they now stand at a Majority in the House. Hayley Barbour left us alone and they have a majority of Governors. The Senate took the opposite road and they are still the minority. They deserve their minority status.
