Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller's campaign claims it has audio proof of local reporters scheming about ways to connect the Republican nominee to "child molesters."
The Miller campaign blasted out an e-mail overnight containing a transcript and audio recording of what it claimed were reporters at CBS affiliate KTVA discussing story ideas. The conversation, according to the Miller campaign, was recorded on spokesman Randy DeSoto's voicemail apparently by accident after an assignment editor with the station called him and mistakenly left his phone on instead of hanging up.
KTVA confirmed the authenticity of the tape Sunday but rejected as "absurd" the suggestion that reporters were trying to "fabricate" a negative story about Miller.

How can you confirm the tape but say its not true?
The desperation of the Left is blatant. They know what’s heading their way.
File a complaint with the FCC. The station owners are required by law to provide a response. The complaint emails will also have to be included in their license renewal application.
Contact the FCC and register a complaint against the owners of KTVA, Anchorage.

I fault the Miller campaign in one respect. The recording was made Thurs. Why wait until Sunday to release it? That leaves very little time to make something of it.
Breaking news...
“The complete conversation was about what others might be able to do to cause disruption within the Miller campaign, not what KTVA could do.”
Miller should sue in Federal court Mon morning to have these reporters paid work-product declared as an “in kind” campaign contribution to his opponents.
They had to confirm it was actually left by station reporters and employees.
Simple. Just listen to the tape. It is CLEAR the hack reporters were not doing “What if’s” but “How To’s”
Surely there’s a lawyer somewhere willing and able to sue major media establishments for “media malpractice.”
Journalists are “certified” somehow. I often hear about “credentialed” as applied to journalists.
If there is a “credential” procedure, then that means that journalists have certain privileges that we ordinary citizens do not.
With these privileges must come certain obligations.
I believe it can be shown that major media outlets have violated these obligations ==> “media malpractice.”
I think a class action suit on behalf of American citizens who have been irreparably harmed would be in order.
I know I have lost thousands in my IRA due to “journalists” malpractice like “tingle up my leg” in the benediction of Obama without the proper vetting.
Basically...we’ve come to the point where journalists aren’t journalists anymore. Whatever happened after WW II, and the change in college instruction to ensure actual reporting...has come to an end.
Between the newspapers, Time, Newsweek, CNN, ABC, and the host of other media outlets...we are left with people who act more like used car dealers than journalists. Maybe there’s too much competition...and if so...let’s just terminate half the stations and newspapers around America...to bring things back into reason.
Conspiracy To Commit Fraud.
Someone needs to go to jail over this. It is unAmerican.
Alaskan media is as bad as the media here, full of liberal bastards who work for the DNC to bring Conservatives down. This will drive people to the polls on Tuesday to vote for Miller..and if Dems want to bring out the child molesters, they did, yesterday at John Stewart’s rally I saw a bunch of NAMBLA people there with signs
Who are we to believe, the station guy or our own lying ears??
I thought KTVA would try to pass it off as investigative journalism. Gotta give 'em credit for chutzpah.
Fox should hire a forensic audio analyst to "ungarble" the inaudible parts of the tape. That would show KTVA's explanation for what it is - a cover up.
“Who ya gonna believe....me or your lyin” ears”?? They were CLEARLY PLOTTING!!
corrupt bastards
This is how.
“KTVA Responds to Miller Campaign Allegation
Statement From General Manager
KTVA CBS 11
Created: 10/31/2010 10:17:21 AM PDT
A press release issued Saturday October 30, 2010, by the Joe Miller campaign claims that KTVA personnel, “openly discuss creating, if not fabricating, two stories about Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, Joe Miller.” KTVA General Manager Jerry Bever says, “It’s unfortunate that this recording has happened. It’s unfortunate because it does not accurately reflect the journalistic standards of our newsroom and the garbled context will no doubt leave more questions than answers. The Miller campaign’s analysis of the recording is incorrect in many material ways ranging from personnel involved in the conversation, the interpretation of conversation snippets and the reported transcript of the perceived garbled conversation.”
“While the recording is real, the allegations are untrue,” said Bever. “The recording was the result of a cell phone not being hung up after a call was placed to Randy DeSoto, Joe Miller campaign spokesperson, Thursday afternoon to discuss Joe Miller’s appearance on that evening’s newscast. That phone call was placed near the end of a coverage planning meeting in our newsroom regarding that evening’s Miller rally in downtown Anchorage. The group of KTVA news personnel was reviewing potential “what-if” scenarios, discussing the likelihood of events at the rally and how KTVA might logistically disseminate any breaking news.”
Bever continues, “The perception that this garbled, out of context recording may leave is unfortunate, but to allege that our staff was discussing or planning to create or fabricate stories regarding candidate Miller is absurd. The complete conversation was about what others might be able to do to cause disruption within the Miller campaign, not what KTVA could do.”
While Bever would not discuss any personnel issues linked with the recording, Bever says “Have we had internal discussions about the level of professionalism we need to bring to our conversations, internally and externally? Of course we have, this is a lesson to learn from.”
