There needs to a law preventing any Federal agency from announcing grants, contracts, projects, etc. in the month preceding election day.

I’m tired of these bloodsuckers using my tax money to buy votes.

This is about setting up the republicans. Why didn’t this money appear last year? Funny how it appears when the GOP is virtually assured of victory. The Smart republicans will kill the project and the democrats will immediately start screaming bloody murder.

“The Other Small Business Lending Fund”

Posted by Gene Sperling on October 08, 2010 at 10:58 AM EDT

SNIPPET: “ Michigan found that too many small manufacturers were unable to get the credit they need to diversify their businesses because the value of their real estate collateral had deteriorated. To address this issue, the state created a supplier diversification program that has far more demand than it can meet. Yesterday, Michigan learned it would be eligible for funds to support $792 million in new lending through programs like this.”

I’d be all for spending the money on walling off Detroit to prevent any more escapes from there.

The Upper Peninsula has to get the hell away from those....down there.

The UP was once one of the most powerful economic areas in the USA..that is until they gained complete control downstate.

I grew up in the Big D and left during the ‘60s riots. Returned in late ‘90s for a funeral. Amazed to find places where I grew up were a cesspool, or worse. Detroit has always been bad, however, now, it resembles a bombed out war zone.

I will never return there. I just have difficulty believing that this is part of America.

With mentality of liberalism running the show, you have total chaos. Nothing makes sense. Good is bad; bad is good; up is down; down is up.

Not a boondoggle or even a slush fund yet. This is pure and simple vote-buying in the week before the election. They’re not even trying to pretend any more.

High-speed rail for Detroit needs only to be one-way; OUTBOUND.

Its an attempt to buy votes and if that doesn’t work, its a set up.

We all know its not going to be built and when the democrats are thrown out of power they’ll immediately start screaming about the GOP failure to build their choo choo.

Great, 160 million tax payer dollars for a new train system to the most depressed area in the country. who’s riding this train to Detroit? the homeless? the unemployed, gangbangers. Now if the government opens soup kitchens, food stamp offices and relocates all of Michgans unemployment offices to Detroit we would have a full train! Stupid a##es

I sat and watched “Parking Wars” on the history channel yesterday. Interesting that it was in Detroit. Here was some mother...whose son had parked the family car at the wrong spot, and it was a handicapped location. Total fine? Over $1,000. Mom had to go down and get a payment plan....and admitted that she’d never be able to pay this off.

That is one of the things that is a pet peeve of mine these days. I remember reading some years ago that 50 years ago the average civil infraction fine averaged 4 hours wages, and had increased to 10. It's probably worse now.

A seat belt ticket in Texas is $200. How do you justify taking nearly half of Joe Hammer Swinger's check for a seat belt violation?
