The Fate of 11 Aspiring Jihadists from Germany
Der Speigel ^ | October 17, 2010

In early 2009, a number of eager Islamists living in Hamburg, who worshipped at the same mosque as some of the 9/11 terrorists, decided to head to Afghanistan to volunteer for jihad. They fancied themselves fierce warriors, but they turned out to be major failures. They were 11 of them in all, nine angry men and two of their wives, and they all wanted to fight against the occupiers. But waging jihad can be hard -- especially if you're overweight or have been spoiled by your mother.

When they set off for Afghanistan from Hamburg in early 2009, they were brimming with enthusiasm about vanquishing the oppressor. As time wore on, though, their new home became very uncomfortable...

The group's members were regulars of the Taiba mosque on Hamburg's Steindamm Street. Formerly known as the Al-Quds mosque, it had been the place of worship for the Hamburg cell of the 9/11 terrorists. As it happened, this is also where another group of fanatic Muslims apparently became radicalized...

The group's 11 members may not have achieved much, but at least they succeeded in becoming famous -- perhaps even infamous. In June and July, two of them were arrested in Pakistan and Afghanistan, respectively, and two more are believed to have been killed in a recent drone attack. Most of the time, they were on the run.

Indeed, the group's wanderings through the war zone reveal more about the nature of jihad than any propaganda video placed on the Internet...When they left Hamburg, some of them had still been living at home with their parents in the rooms they'd grown up in. They fancied themselves fierce warriors, but they turned out to be major failures.

Eleven losers travel a long way to stay losers. What is it with living in their parents' basements and fancying themselves brave fighters?

Germany needs to drop out of the EU and go back to governing themselves. Immigrants are taking over their country. Parents that allow their kids to live with them forever are doing a great dis-service to their children. The kids will become users in the end.

According to all accounts provided by those who have come back, when new would-be jihadists arrive, the Afghan commanders get particularly excited about one thing: their travel funds. Recruits are required to pay for their rifles and grenades out of their own pockets. And laptops, binoculars and warm jackets are happily accepted as tender.

BAHAHAHA - what a bunch of maroons...

That’s what I thought. A bunch of spoiled idiots. The ones who survive should never be allowed back into Germany.

Until the war with Islam is over - people immigrating from Muslim countries to any Western country should be given provisional citizenship. ONLY. Any membership in terrorists organizations cancels citizenship.

At least 5 were killed in that UAV attack including, reportedly, Qari Hussain Mehsud who may have died for the 4th time. He was the real target of the UAV attack. Foreigners really stand out in Af/Pak and have a higher bounty, by far.

It would not surprise me if their Afghan “brothers” set them up to collect a bounty once their relatives stopped sending them expense money. As for the two women, I hope they enjoy being property.
