ADL Denounces Carl Paladino's Comments Denigrating Homosexuality
ADL ^ | October 12, 2010

Posted on 10/12/2010 12:54:31 PM PDT by Pope Pius XII

New York, NY, October 12, 2010 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today criticized Carl Paladino for a series of anti-gay remarks, including his assertion that children should not be "brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid or successful option."

Ron Meier, ADL New York Regional Director, issued the following statement:

We are appalled by Carl Paladino's comments denigrating homosexuality and suggesting that a homosexual lifestyle is not "valid." His statements are an affront to all New Yorkers, and are particularly disturbing in light of several recent hate crimes targeting the LGBT community in the New York Metropolitan Area.

We have repeatedly urged all candidates to refrain from appeals to prejudice and bigotry. Such appeals are offensive, counterproductive and contrary to our nation's democratic values.

Earlier this year, ADL urged our national leaders – and candidates – to commit themselves to restoring civility to our public discourse. We renew that call today. A truly effective candidate is one who engages in thoughtful and reasoned debate and rejects divisive and hateful rhetoric. That is an essential ingredient of leadership.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ADL neither supports nor opposes candidates for political office.

“What does homosexuality have to do with being Jewish?”

Buggery is, of course, antithetical to Judaism.

'Yawn' is right. Just typical secular liberalism at work: the most-protected tribe in the media rallying to the cause of the other sacrosanct group. Both groups are above criticism and are unified in their hatred of anything that even hints at (ewwww!) Christian morality.

Nothing surprising here at all.

I would tell Abe Foxman to blow me, but he would probably take me up on it.

“The ADL is a Jewish organization? Who knew? Certainly doesn’t act like one.”

Always has been. I’m sure they deny it, but it was first constituted to push for Jewish rights.

We are appalled by Carl Paladino's comments denigrating bestiality and suggesting that a bestial lifestyle is not "valid." His statements are an affront to all New Yorkers, and are particularly disturbing in light of several recent hate crimes targeting the LGBTB community in the New York Metropolitan Area.

We are appalled by Carl Paladino's comments denigrating pedophiles and suggesting that a pedophillic lifestyle is not "valid." His statements are an affront to all New Yorkers, and are particularly disturbing in light of several recent hate crimes targeting the LGBTI community in the New York Metropolitan Area.

We are appalled by Carl Paladino's comments denigrating incest and suggesting that an incestual lifestyle is not "valid." Why are the fudgepackers so highly prized above other perversions?

Just HOW do you “denigrate” homosexuality?

Isn’t it inherently the ultimate in degradation?

“As G-d said in Leviticus,it is an abomination.”

You mean He actually mentioned the ADL in Leviticus? :-) I mean, I agree that the ADL is an abomination, but I didn’t realize He’d already said it.

Rampant homosexuality has destroyed the theater in New York. Just as it has dance. And lesbians now control its art world. Unfortunately, what begins in New York travels to urban centers throughout the USA. Think I’m crazy? Just ask a male “straight” member of the art world.

The goal is the criminalization of Christianity.
Once you understand that,

you understand a lot more of what is going on.

Can I just applaud him? Doesn't he have the right to his opinion and his beliefs?

I don't see him DEMANDING that everyone approve of his adulterous ways. He doesn't demand that the churches accept him the ‘way he is’...he doesn't demand that adultery laws be stricken from the law books; doesn't call bible passages against adultery, “hate speech”. Why should one sexual practice get special recognition? Why no “promiscuous pride” parades? “Beastiality banquets”?

Good on Paladino.

Parents should have the right NOT to teach their children about deviant sexual behavior!

You’ve hit on the core of the homo movement -
they demand that everyone shout at them that they’re OK,
because their consciences are shouting from in that it’s

WRONG.

I Denounce the ADL for using the word "Denigrate", which literally means "to blacken" and comes from the same root as the N-Word.

SHAME ON YOU, ADL!!!

I’ll never forget when I lived in Oakland and went into San Fran on the day of a gay pride parade. First thing I saw when I ascended out of the Bart station downtown was a giant purple penis float with a bunch of men riding it like they were at some kind of rodeo. It was probably early afternoon.

I can see where Paladino is coming from. I was single with no children at the time so to me it was a spectacle and not much more. I would not want have a young child with me though because I do not think I would want my child’s early exposure’s to sexuality to be so uncontrollable. Sex is a tricky subject under the best of circumstances and - as a father of a two year old now - I want to control the process when they are young. This is not because I’m a prude or not comfortable with sex but rather because it is such a powerful force in the human experience that a child’s gradual maturation into it has to be incremental with lots of explanation in the process. To just be randomly exposed to a parade like that - whether it’s gay or straight - would be overwhelming, I think, to a young mind. When your an adult it’s different. As I walked around downtown that evening I could put everything I saw in context, measure it against my own already formed value system and come to my own conclusions. Whether or not I’m pro, anti or indifferent to homosexuality is not the point. The point is is that I - around the age of 28 - already had a large (when compared to a child) amount of experience within which to integrate what I saw at the parade. A child does not. So when Paladino gets angry about having his kids see what goes on at many pride parades I can understand.

On other hand San Francisco is a world unto itself. If you choose to live there than you should know what you might come across on any given day. To be honest the rampant homelessness and the city’s lax enforcement of what they could do on the street, disturbs me much more than a gay pride parade. The parade is a scheduled event and the type of behavior you might see at it is well known. Seeing junkies vomiting on each other in front of the capitol building at ten in the morning and obviously deranged homeless people defecating in a public fountain during lunch hour is a whole other bag of chips in my opinion.

Whether or not parades like that should even be allowed is, to me, a question of local governance. Some places (like San Fran) it’s considered acceptable by many. Other places, in fact most other cities in the U.S., it would not be considered acceptable. Part of me wants to say: If you don’t like gay pride parades then don’t live in New York or San Francisco type cities. If you’re gay and want to live somewhere where you will be able to be yourself in an accepting environment then move to a place like San Fran or New York. Local governance determines the flavor of the locality. The idea that every locality has to observe the same cultural norms is ridiculous, on both sides of the equation. Here’s where I get real conciliatory and start sounding like a politician: It’s a huge country and, I believe, can sustain a broad level of “cultural diversity”. Just don’t expect every place you go to be exactly like where you come from.

I know I’ll probably get a lot of flack for this position but the reality is: Conservatives and Libertarians and old school Liberals are much more tolerant and diverse in practice, in the real world, than the Left will ever wish to be even in theory.

Has anyone noticed that the ADL has not said one word about the Westboro Baptist Church (so called)? My theory is that this wacko group is being used as a spear tip to burst the bubble of freedom of speech.
Why isn’t the fags protesting the WBC who is protesting at the military funerals? WBC go to the extreme so as to force the gov’t to put restrictions on speech. Making ugly speech equal to hate speech which must be eliminated by the totalitarian regime.
No law can change the heart of a man, only God’s Word can do this. Every law is the loss of that much freedom. How much more can we lose before we are slaves?

Shocking. I thought it was an anti-Israel, anti-America organization. Certainly acts like one.
