Republican Carl Paladino, a tea party candidate for governor of New York, said Monday on NBC's "Today" show that he doesn't discriminate against homosexuals. On Sunday, in a discussion of gay marriage at a meeting with Brooklyn Hasidic Jewish leaders, Paladino said children were being "brainwashed" into accepting homosexuality as "valid."

Fitzgibbons indicates that recent historical changes in institutional views of homosexuality have not been helpful for those who have been acting on the disposition. He tells Zenit that "Homosexuality was diagnosed and treated as a psychiatric illness -- abnormal behaviour -- until 1973, when it was removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual in psychiatry because of political pressure." He continues that "The sexual practices of homosexuals involve serious health risks and illness. Specifically, sodomy as a sexual behaviour is associated with significant and life-threatening health problems". Later in the interview he provides far more detail about his claims and the results of research by himself and others on the issue. Regarding mental health consequences, Fitzgibbons states there is a "strong link between homosexual sex and suicide, as well as a relationship between homosexuality and emotional and mental problems." "The youth suffering from these disorders" Fitzgibbons tells Zenit, "were four times as likely as their peers to suffer from major depression, almost three times as likely to suffer from generalized anxiety disorder, nearly four times as likely to experience conduct disorder, five times as likely to have nicotine dependence, six times as likely to suffer from multiple disorders, and over six times as likely to have attempted suicide." Gay Curricula Should Conform To Science

DR. RICHARD FITZGIBBONS

Richard Fitzgibbons, a Philadelphia psychiatrist, told The Bulletin that many of the conceptions that drive the push for curricula that endorse a homosexual lifestyle have no basis in scientific findings.

The press for tolerance education for homosexuality in classrooms is driven by the desire to provide safe, learning-friendly environments for all students. The program of education is based on the testimony of teachers that intimidation of children with same-sex attractions is rampant in schools, and prejudice against gay people is strong enough to keep teachers from "coming out."

However, a Philadelphia psychiatrist told The Bulletin that many of the conceptions that drive the push for curricula that endorse a homosexual lifestyle have no basis in scientific findings.

Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons is the director of the Institute for Marital Healing in West Conshohocken and has worked with thousands of patients over the past 30 years. He has lectured at the International Institute for Culture on identifying and resolving emotional conflicts in children. Dr. Fitzgibbons said that there is ample evidence to show that homosexual relationships are not on par with heterosexual ones.

"People are being taught through media and government that there is no difference between the homosexual lifestyle and the heterosexual lifestyle," said Dr. Fitzgibbons. But he said there is no scientific evidence to support that message.

Dr. Fitzgibbons and other psychiatric researchers from the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) compiled information from various scientific studies on homosexuality to debunk unscientific claims about homosexual relationships.

"Homosexual relationships are abusive between 35 and 55 percent of the time," said Dr. Fitzgibbons. "Heterosexual relationships have about 7 percent abuse."

Joanne Glussman, the leader of a group called the Mainline Youth Alliance (MYA), which is designed to provide a place for social interaction of students who identify as homosexual, favors educational initiatives that endorse homosexuality. She pointed to a 2008 poll by the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) of over 6,000 middle and high school students that found nearly nine out of 10 gay students felt harassed at school in the past year. About a third of those students said they had skipped a day of school in the past month because they did not feel safe.

"That's really what it's about," said Ms. Glusman. "Because as you know if you've done your research, these kids are at exorbitantly high risk of harassment, physical harm and even death."

Still, Dr. Fitzgibbons brings a host of scientific research to endorse his position. Scientists have found that persons with same-sex attractions are at a much greater risk of suffering from other psychological disorders, such as depression, substance abuse and thoughts of suicide. These studies were published by the American Journal of Public Health, the International Journal of Epidemiology and the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Fitzgibbons said these studies indicate homosexual relationships have problems with commitment and don't come anywhere close to the levels of commitment reflected in heterosexual unions. Such a relationship scene, he says, goes against what people expect from relationships.

Paladino said children were being "brainwashed" into accepting homosexuality as "valid."

I don't see what the controversy is. I wager that the VAST majority of parents would agree that children should not be "learning" anything about homosexuality in schools. They should be learning reading, writing, mathematics, basic sciences and honest American history and civics. Social issues are the province of parents.

Do whatever you want in your own bedroom, but do NOT demand or expect society to approve it, much less care to know about it. Why is this such a difficult concept?

the media and especially FOX, yes you FOX are getting out of control on your attacks against Paladino.
Why?
Is it because he caught you scum bags looking through his kids bedroom window or is it because he called you out on your bias.

Taking your kids to a homosexual parade is disgusting.
I happened to bump into one one in Boston and I have neevr seen such disgusting acts in my life and I was in the military around the world.

You the MEDIA should BE ASHAMED.
There is nothing controversial or explosive in his remarks except in your elitist NY city eyes.

FOX, Megyn kelly , Kilmeade etc get a frigging grip of yourselves and ask why does a man take his kids to see other men and women touching each other and mock Nuns while they rub each other up or watch them touch each other.

the communist manifesto years ago said that they had to promote homosexuality in order to break the normal family thus ruining the west.

Keeping silent has only encouraged and helped the homosexual agenda and all of us need to talk out against it.

I’ve always corrected people , people I do not know when they advance their homosexual agenda, the more speak out the mroe it lets others know what is truly going on.

The media are afraid of Paladino as he calls them out and speaks for the majority and that is why FOX and others are going after him

This denial is harmful to them, as well as others as until one can admit this is sin they cannot be forgiven of it, thru repetance and faith inthe Lord Jesus:

taking a kid to promote yourself for votes is sickening and yet the boas media ignore that.

I’ve seen a homosexual parade and felt sick.
They acted like little kids, insulting other religions, dressed in ways they should have been arrested and yet some think this is alright to take kids too?

Yet again the elitist media up in Ny city show their disgusting bias and attack a man for speaking what the majority think.

Ask the rat if he wants homosexuals to marry and he will say yes but no the media does not do that as they know deep down that could lose him the election.

At this rate a wall will have to be built between VA and the north east not AZ and MX

He speaks the truth that most do not want to hear. The "evil eye Andy boot licking media" are out to discredit Paladino. We know what this is all about and it's not working. This is not an attack on thier life style or a personal attack it's an attack on the forced acceptance of this life style and the constant push to teach this life style to our young children as a legitimate life style. What you do in private is your own business Not everyone is gay, period! Keep it to yourselves!

“My theory is that these particular individuals are self-loathing and consequently self-destructive.”

You are absolutely correct; they are miserable because deep down inside they know that what they do is wrong and a sin, and no amount of rationalization can make that go away. Because they cannot absolve themselves of their sin, their response is to try to drag everyone down to their level, in the final belief that if everyone is as miserable as they, everything will be OK.

I don't watch FOX unless there is a big story on...but I would imagine like the majority of newsrooms in NYC...Fox employs many homosexuals.

NYC is the propaganda capital of the world...with the networks, newspapers, magazines, theater, music, Madison Ave...the advertising capital of the world.

These folks have the money, know-how, and the capabilities to pull off this big lie on the American people.

Megyn kelly on FOX just said that he has made explosive comments

er where, he said what the majority think.

Must be nice to live in la la land with all the elitists never really thinking what these people do to each other in order to get off and then say they should be treated as a normal couple.

I guarantee that many who say they have homosexual friends and they are nice would not say that when they see their so called friends doing it at a parade dressed in some perverted way in public.

As for the schools, well most in the country think it should not be in the schools.

I’ve been turning off FOX on some programmes for some time but today it was the final straw for me.

First FOX and friends had a go at Paladino , now the next show I watch Kelly made some idiotic comments by saying he made explosive comments coast to coast.

Er no he never, maybe they should ask why children are being took to homosexual parades, to see two of the same sex rubbing each other up, dressed in a perverted way, mocking Nuns. touching each other etc.

The media have no clue what real people think or feel any more and I think that is why they are attacking Paladino.

sadly some fall for their lies, even on here.

BRAVO, DR. Eckleburg! Thanks for saying that! I mentioned that fact about homosexuality cuts decades off a person's life only yesterday, and got stunned silence. Nobody knew that. Let's destroy the “gay is the same only different” hoax with the FACTS.
