The fact is, it is the province of pyschologists to determine what is dysfunctional behavior.

LOL. Do you know that psychologists have been seriously debating "normalizing" pedophile behavior?

Bottom line: if someone tells you that it's "normal" to jam your penis into someone's anus, don't believe them.

Well, the problem is that psychotherapists became dysfunctional in 1973 or whenever they took same-sex attraction out of the diagnostic manual and did so on purely political, not clinical, basis. Even those psychos who agreed with the decision admitted it was done purely on politics. One of them wrote a book about how the decsion was made.

So, while at one time it might have been reasonable to leave it to the psychos to decide what is dysfunctional, now that the psychos are mostly dysfunctional, I’d say it’s the province of normal folks like you and me to decide.

And yes, same-sex attraction is dysfunctional. It just is. You can put honey on a turd and it’s a honey-coated turd. I’m not a connoisseur of turds, but I’d say, just off the top of my head, that a honey-coated one is dysfunctional. A regular turd is not dysfunctional.

Just from a practical standpoint, this country would be s-o-o-o improved if these disturbed, miserable buggers would jump off a bridge en masse.

Yet so many people here will blindly cheer Paladino not realizing how big a gaffe it really is. I happen to agree it is an incredibly destructive lifestyle, but society (especially in dark blue states like NY) has largely become very tolerant of homosexuality and making a point of condemning it in such strong terms is just terrible politics. Some things are just better left unsaid.

Plus, whose vote did he win over with this remark that he didn’t already have? It’s just bad politics to go off on some sort of tangent like this when meat and potatoes economic issues are plenty and the situation in a state like NY is verging on desperate.

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
-George Orwell

In what State is this man running for governor? He is greatly to be commended for the simple, "revolutionary", act of telling the truth.

I’m gonna take the minority view on this (and probably get clobbered) but—

I would call it the spineless view, the unprincipled view, or the RINO view...

Thank God it is the minority view...

I think people are sick and tired of unprincipled spineless double talking politicians...

Paladino hasn’t named any one person as dysfunctional. He is stating a case for homosexuality itself as form of personality dysfunction. There is a difference.

A relative of mine was homosexual and suddenly, to everyone’s surprise, decided to walk away from that lifestyle and CHOSE to marry a member of the opposite sex. Why? Who knows!

There have been so many of these instances where people, either heterosexual or homosexual, decide to switch that the argument, “I was born this way”, no longer applies.

The result is either a personality (or sexual) dysfunction. It doesn’t mean that a person is crazy or a danger to the rest of the public. Far from it. It just means there is something not quite ‘straight’ (pardon the pun!) going on with that person’s personality.

Some of the gays are in their families and don’t like their loved ones being called dysfunctional.

Just because someone is delusional, it doesn't mean you don't have the responsibility to tell them the truth.

If our political and religious leaders (not to mention parents) were better about telling the truth, even when it's inexpedient, many of our societal problems would go away.

'Paladino calls gays 'dysfunctional''

Yes.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Many Republicans know and love a gay person.

NEWSFLASH there are no "gay" people!

That said, I don’t have to identify someone as dysfunctional to oppose gay marriage.

They are dysfunctional. They build their whole identity around deviant sex. That's dysfunctional.

Would you accept Obama calling people who attend tea party events “dysfunctional?”

That has to be one of the dumbest analogies ever posted on FR. Taxes Enough Already has nothing to do with a perverted lifestyle.

We need candidates who can stay focused on the issues.

The homosexual agenda IS an issue.

The fact is that society has become very tolerant because there haven't been strong voices speaking out against it.

Now is the time.

Yes,

You Americans are faced by a real conservative. This man Paladino will not lye to you, even if it means he won´t be elected.
On the other hand, he is completely right about the subject. This is a man to be proud of and to vote for!

I'm sure the psychologists would love to arrogate such power to themselves, but I don't have to go along with the charade.

If the psychologists say that homosexual buggery is "A-OK", then the psychologists are WRONG.

I’ll just concede that every word you say is true. But we are talking about a man running for governor veering WAY off the track to no purpose. He wins no one’s vote he doesn’t already have with this remark. It’s not like his state isn’t fully stocked with red meat economic issues on which he could get elected if he smartly addreses them. It’s just bad politics to suddenly begin playing pop psychologist in the late stages of a political campaign.

(And even if you and I decide homosexuality is dysfunctional what do you propose we do—round up the gays for re-education camp? And advocating such is gonna get someone elected governor of NY—??? Like it isn’t hard enough for conservatives to win in places like NY....

Never mind.)

Carl Paladino says it’s not okay to be gay.

And he's right. But of course, nowadays it is all but illegal to hold such opinions and one who articulates them is considered so out of the mainstream as to be unelectable. Never mind that until a few years ago the most liberal liberals agreed.

I can't help but wonder where this constant state of teleological flux in morals will take our "mainstream" politicians next. Perhaps insisting that anyone who opposes bestiality is unfit for elective office?

That’s not a “D” after NY. It’s eyes, a nose and a BIG grin. Paladino is a conservative running on the Republican ticket against Emperor Cuomo’s get.
