But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Here's a news flash for you Mike: There is ONLY one person that decides what goods or services I purchase -- ME!

Not you nor the rest of your cohorts in crime, not the criminals in the SCOTUS, and certainly not that islamo-fascist, foreign-born, communist b-turd currently soiling the People's House. Got it?

I don’t think you know very much about Congressman Pence. I suggest you do some research on how he stands and how he votes.

It matters not what Mike’s position is on any issue is. He said what he said and it is manifestly wrong.

Neither the Pretender in Chief, the Crooks in Congress, or the Supreme Court gets to tell fellow citizens that we are REQUIRED to purchase something as a prerequisite to being alive or to get access to services of doctor (another fellow citizen).

Call it whatever you want, a Tax or a Fee, the purpose is, on the very face of it, unconstitutional. That is of course, if the Constitution actually really means anything. Which is really what the Supreme Court will be deciding.

Mike Pence has not phrased this correctly and Just a Nobody’s reaction is dead on!. The Supreme Court does not decide the Constitution, they had better be able to understand our Constitutionally based Rights are not fungible.
Pence is only OK IMO, a better class of RhINO than the Grahamster or McCainiac.

I really don’t care what the Supreme Court decides. They make their decision; I’ve already made mine. I quit my job in protest over the abortion provision. I will not pay ONE CENT in tribute to the false idol of government.

If this be sedition; so be it. If this be treason; so be it. This is my Patrick Henry moment. “I know not what course others may take; but as for me... give me liberty or give me death!”

Well, that shows what you know, henkster.

I'm very well informed on who Pence is and what his positions are. Five and a half years ago I was asked to become a blogger for "Pence for President" for that very reason.

My comment has less to do with Pence, and more to do with the Constitution, than anything else. Mike said it so my comment was directed at him and stands.

So you quit your job? How do you pay for food, shelter and the occasional gassing up the vehicle?

I think your anger at Pence is misdirected. Pence was stating what is the current situation. I suggest you hold your fire.

See my post #9.

No anger intended -- simply a statement of fact.

Under previous circumstances it would be true that you are the one who decides what you buy. In the specific case of health insurance, that is no longer true.

The health care law requires everyone to purchase insurance. Every citizen is required by law to purchase insurance whether they want it or not. You have no choice in the matter. If you don’t you will be fined. (there might be special situation for medicare eligible)

That new mandatory requirement on citizens raises the question, can a government that forces citizens to purchase insurance force the citizen to purchase other things or services on pain of fine or penalty?

The right you claim has been taken away. You might not want a chrome plated garbage collection container but there will be one in your driveway and the government will come collect the payment and if you don’t pay, they will assess a penalty or a fine.

We’re forced to participate in Social Security and pay Medicare taxes. obummercare will be viewed as more of the same.

Call it whatever you want, a Tax or a Fee, the purpose is, on the very face of it, unconstitutional.

tonyinv and Just A Nobody have have an understandable 'sentiment' but feelings alone will not suffice for any of us to gain the gift of freedom that all of us deserve to inherit from our individual American origins. I will reveal my own hardcore sentiment below.

tonyinv has especially drawn out the key battle tactic that may and very likely will overcome our opposition to Obamacare, to wit:

The 16th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America:

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

From 'whatever source derived' indeed. This amendment is different from all others in that it is designed specifically to expand the powers of central government. Since its ratification in February 1913, the United States of America has experienced a Trojan Horse of federal government into their lives. At first the new forms of taxation were small and distant but over many decades the tax code that rests on the foundation of the 16th Amendment has grown into an agressive cancer that no tax reform can cure or prevent it from metastacizing (there have been five major tax reforms since 1913; they have all failed).

My sentiment:

Whatever sentiment we hold, it will serve only to unite us to those of similar sentiment. Many of us will seek our 'Inner Robespierre' but a revolution, violent or peaceful, will need the following acts to return to us our historical inheritance:

Obamacare sets ‘minimum standards of health insurance’ and does not require anyone to purchase anything. They will use the ‘tax argument’ as FDR did in defending Social Security.

It boils down to this:

“You don’t meet our minimum standard of health insurance coverage? Fine, you won’t get the tax credit for the tax we are going to impose on you just because.”

For insight into a way out of this mess, see the links in post #19.
