Obama and the Evil Squatters

"God is dead," according to the existentialist Nietzsche. He might as well have been talking about Berkeley, California.

Think I'm exaggerating? Take a trip out west and spend a few days on Telegraph Avenue. Then wander over to the downtown area, Shattuck and University. If you're really the daredevil, do so after dark, when the mean streets look positively Kafkaesque.

When I say God is dead in Berkeley, I don't mean just that parts of the city look like a hellhole. I'm referring to the militant anti-God vibe. While Berkeley has always had its atheists, a shift has taken place in the last decade or so. People are not merely declining a life of the spirit. Many are openly hostile toward anything or anyone having to do with God.

This wasn't always the case. When I first landed in Berkeley in the early '80s, it was a spiritual hub. There were Jesus-freaks and Jews for Jesus. The followers of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, the sannyasins, were resplendent in red. The Hare Krishnas danced and chanted and rattled their tambourines along Telegraph Avenue.

Having been raised secular, I drank it all in like a person starved for sustenance. I immersed myself in the spiritual cornucopia, dancing with the Sufis and chanting with the Tibetans. I'd spend weeks at a time on silent retreats, gratefully sitting with gifted teachers such as Ram Dass and Stephen and Ondrea Levine.

All the pagan worship in Berkely (Mahayana, Shinto, Ayyavazh, Baul, Jainism, Buddhism, Taoism, New Age, Esotericism, Mysticism, Kulam (which is Filipino witchcraft), Satanism and every other sect that proliferates there has proven to be a fertile field for demons, which infest that place.

I am not joking.

If you do not worship the Judeo-Christian God, you are worshiping the evil one.

A relative of mine moved there back in the 1980's. She is a shadow of her former self. Hard left in every fiber of her being, she looks for god in causes, politics, diets, spells, charms, "energy", nature, and herself.

She also has a deep and abiding hatred of Christianity, and of Israel.

The city itself is filled with the mentally deranged, who panhandle aggressively and defecate on the street.

Yet, its citizens believe they are the most enlightened people on the planet.

From my involvment with AA I learned, among other things, that I cannot control much of the world outside of myself. I had to turn to my inner being and work to heal there. It’s the “Let go and Let God” principle.

The people that Robin describes all seem to have miserable lives and struggle to control others through ridicule, confrontation and overt hostility. They rage at a world that won’t do it their way.

God gave us all the power to judge and make distinctions and decisions in life for our personal growth. This seems to be a sorry city to live in.

The Left is full of guilt and loneliness. Instead of embracing the real solution, a humble surrendering of oneself to God, they lash out at the societal Devils they blame for their condition. They want a social revolution to destroy an enemy which is not there. They want others to join them in their quest for redemption by destroying the non-existence which is them. They feel blame and they want to destroy the blamer. They find no good in the present with which to identify so it is the present which must be wrong and must be changed.

They run helter-skelter into the future, destroying all they see, rushing headlong into nothingness. Yet, nothingness is better than guilt and guilt comes from a judgmental God who will surely find them wanting. Therefore, God must be banned.

I can’t hear you, LALALALALA! Change? Who me? Go away! You are nothing but a figment and a lie. Leave me alone!

The Left projects its guilt onto the external world and seeks solace in the myth of a Workers Paradise when the masses overthrow Evil Capitalists and a Marxist Elite guides them into the peaceful bliss of equality. No need to compete. That causes stress. Just follow us, the elite, and we will think for you. You just be a faithful drone and support us, much like ants and bees devote their lives to taking care of their queen. Tellingly, all the queen does is produce more offspring which in turn devote their lives to taking care of her. That is Marxism in the insect world.

Unfortunately for Marxists, humans aren’t as monolithic and dedicated. That forces Marxists to eliminate millions of us. Humans also aren’t as industrious when all their labors go to the benefit of others. Eventually this causes the collapse of the system. Some then, like Russia and China today, try to adopt a hybrid system of free enterprise and Marxism. They put the Party Elite in charge of all the main industries and use a modified central control. That will never work either. Free enterprise depends on freedom of choice all the way from top to bottom, from seller to buyer. When incentive is absent, action is slow or non-existent.

Many Leftists seem angry, especially when talking about Christians and Christian values. How can one possibly believe in the Communist Manifesto with an attitude like that? How can they possibly think someone with that attitude would willing pass on the fruits of their labors to someone else, on a daily basis. They don’t! They don’t believe in the Communist Manifesto, except for possibly the Useful Idiots. It is all a ruse to gain power over the masses but first they must destroy what is. Unfortunately, they never rebuild, they just destroy.
