As a Californian and a student studying public health, I find the whooping cough resurgence in California extremely troubling ["Whooping cough makes a comeback," Health and Science, Sept. 28].People who refuse to be vaccinated, though misguided, are easy scapegoats, but they are not the driving force behind this trend. In the short term, more needs to be done to encourage booster vaccines in teens and adults to protect the most vulnerable: infants too young to be vaccinated.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. If we don't control who is in the US and what their health and vaccination record is, we'll have to keep poisoning our kids with stronger vaccines. It's one of the best arguments for stopping the invasion and sending home those who are here illegally.
Did I EVER say I was anti-vaccine? I'm anti having stronger, potentially dangerous vaccines to protect us from the invasion. The answer isn't to fight the diseases the invaders bring with them, it's to keep the invaders out of the US. We'll never keep up with new, more lethal diseases as they emerge if we don't control who's in the US.
Just like with swine flu. Instead of closing the border with Mexico when it first emerged and before it spread, we all had to put up with fear of a spreading disease, isolation situations, and the unknowns of a new vaccine. Why?....because obviously Mexicans are more important to this administration than are US citizens.
If you’d had a child who was severely vaccine-damaged, maybe you wouldn’t be so nasty.

If you have any more questions talk them over with doctors. They’ll have heard them all before many times and should have good answers. I have nothing against sometimes following emotions. They can guide us when there’s no time to think things through or when we lack the information to think things through. But emoting without thinking is potentially dangerous, so we must remain on alert. It’s the first step on the road to Democrats.
I agree. I think we may be overwhelming kids with too many at once.
Also, I think it is foolish to think that any disease in all its forms has truly been “wiped out”. I question all the data from dictatorial regimes; and even whether wiping out a disease in all its forms is possible.
(IE, ceasing to vaccinate against smallpox may leave the next generation at risk.)

The vaccine is not an immunization. It works 80% of the time, for 3-5 years. It confers some immunity some of the time, but not for long.
Every teenager and adult in this country, unless they have been revaccinated in the last 5 years, could easily contract whooping cough. So do NOT place blame on parents who didn't vaccinate their kids. There are more older people who have no immunity to pertussis than there are unvaccinated kids, by damn far.
Remember that freedom means you do not have to submit to vaccines, also.
Unless you have your baby in group daycare, I would NOT vaccinate her on the pediatric schedule. It is INSANE and just begging for autoimmune chronic conditions or worse. Never has this amount of neuro-adjuvants, viruses, preservatives, and media been injected into the helpless immune systems of our newborns.
Read Dr. Jay Gordon on vaccination. He has his own schedule for vaccinating. He is not a conservative but he IS conservative with our infants’ bodies, unlike some people here.

No vaccine is 100% effective, but the theory behind vaccinating as much of the population as possible for any specific disease is to reduce incidence to the point that even if one person does get sick despite vaccination, the chances of them coming into contact with other susceptible people are so low that an epidemic is effectively prevented.
It seems to be a fact of life that eliminating the spread of infectious disease has always taken priority over freedom. That's why Typhoid Mary was confined to a sanitorium from 1915 until her death in 1938, and why, prior to widespread vaccination, people with certain diseases were placed under quarantine in their houses, no contact with anyone allowed. If you send your kids to school, where they are in contact with other kids, the vaccination requirements are as much to protect the other kids as to protect yours. You simply do not have the freedom to place others' health or lives at jeapardy.

After one of my girls had siezures for 3 days after her “BABY” shots which btw several other babies around that time also did. Though they tried hard to hush it up....MPMs talk!
I stopped with the vaccines until I was threatened (with the lie) that my twins couldn’t start school without them and boy-twin incurred all three kinds of measles from the measles!!!

When my son whacked his head on a dumpster in the schoolyard I took him in for stitches and when the DOCTOR asked if he’d had his shots and I said no, he replied ? Good for you, my nephew is permanently brain damaged form the DPT.
I dunno, it seems this vaccine was pretty effective for many years.
There is an increasingly large pool of non-vaccinated adults and children in California, due, in part, to illgal immigration.
There’s also a number of parents who are declining vaccination for thier children , due to fear of autism.
I’ll bet that whooping cough is resurgent in those groups.
