Sept. 23, 2010

TACOMA, WASH. - Vice President Joe Biden is headed to Tacoma Oct. 8 for a “get out and vote” rally with U.S. Sen. Patty Murray.

First Lady Michelle Obama will headline a fundraiser for Murray Oct. 25.

The Murray campaign says the Oct. 8 event with Biden will take place at the University of Washington in Tacoma. The event will be free to the public and registration will begin at 9 a.m.

Those who would like to attend are being asked by the Murray campaign to RSVP at www.pattymurray.com/pierce or call 206-286-9199.

The Obama Administration hopes to maintain a Democratic majority in the Senate, and Biden’s visit is a reminder of Murray’s importance to their Administration.

Biden’s last visit to Seattle where he headlined a fundraiser for Murray was in February.

Murray’s campaign office issued a statement from Murray on Biden’s visit:

“I am very honored to welcome Vice President Biden back to Washington state in October. He has been a true champion for middle and working class families across our state and nation. This election is about continuing to move our country forward and take care of families and businesses on Main Street,” said Senator Murray. “There’s no one better to help us get out the vote than a good friend of Main Street, our Vice President. I look forward to joining him in Tacoma next month.”

Today’s passage of the bill through the VA committee is an important step forward toward providing support for a unique and growing group of homeless veterans,” said Senator Patty Murray. “Women veterans and veterans with children often have different needs and require specialized services. The grants included in this bill will go to help provide transitional housing as well as services like parenting classes, domestic violence prevention, job training, and child care. It’s our duty to give every veteran the resources they need to come in off the streets. This bill will help provide an open door to women and families that have made tremendous sacrifices and deserve safe and stable homes.”

SCC-affiliated co-op celebrates 30th anniversary

It’s a little known fact here on campus that SCC has a well-established Parent Education/Cooperative Preschool Program at eight sites around Shoreline and Seattle. This program offers parenting classes to nearly 500 families with young children each quarter. One of these programs, the Crystal Springs Cooperative Preschool will celebrate its 30th Anniversary with a special event on Sunday, May 23 from 1-5pm. For this event, the co-op will host a special guest, Senator Patty Murray, in addition to current families and alumni. Many years ago, both Senator Murray and President Moore served as parent educators at Crystal Springs and helped form the program into what it is today.

Despite their change from SCC parent educators to U.S. Senator and College President, both Senator Murray and President Moore continue to be strong advocates for children and families and the statewide parent education program. The current families enrolled at Crystal Springs are proud to be part of an SCC-affiliated co-op with such a rich history and that continues to serve families with young children so effectively today. Congratulations, Crystal Springs. Here’s to another 30 years!

"she as a high ranking Senator is able to funnel to a wide assortment of projects across the state.

This is how she manages the pork into the state. It is purely a business proposition. She uses federal dollars to cultivate votes from the electorate. However, the Boeing situation is another matter. Hence, she was up at the Everett Boeing assembly plant Monday, Sept. 27th, warming the cockles of the union workers (some of the highest paid workers in the state) with hopes of securing the KC-X tanker contract. Her poor results so far are a reflection of her incompetency. She is trying to gloss over her poor performance with empty promises.

Patty Osama Mamma Murray needs to be hit for her negligence in the KC-X Boeing tanker bidding process. Boeing contended that fundamental but often unstated changes were made to the bid requirements and evaluation criteria. These changes, according to Boeing, not only unfairly skewed the results against Boeing; they “penalized the warfighter and the taxpayer by selecting an airplane that did not satisfy the Air Force’s own bid requirements.” Northrop Grumman/EADS’s KC-45 should have been disqualified and Boeing's KC-767 tanker should have been selected. Murray should have facilitated the process to ensure that Boeing was being treated fairly and cultivated the most favorable climate with U.S. Airforce.

The latest attacks on Rossi for his comments that the Air Force should not consider illegal airplane subsidies in its aerial refueling tanker competition try to deflect the focus on Murray's poor effort with the bidding process. Rossi meant to say that the subsidies question should not change the playing field for Boeing. Northrop Grumman/EADS has had even a greater subsidy problem and to single Boeing out is giving unfair advantage to Northrop Grumman/EADS.

We we should not overlook Murray's vote for Obamacare will cost Boeing $150 million additional health care costs. Boeing employees will have to about pay 23% more in premiums because of the new measure.

There are way too many to pick from to narrow it down to Patty Murray.

I'm sorry, but she still takes the cake. Dumber than a bag of hammers doesn't begin to express her mental shallowness.

Decades before she went to the Senate, I remember my Dad talking about her when she was a mere state legislator. He had occasion in his job to do briefings before various state committees on topics mostly related to pupil transportation by school districts (school busses). Whenever she was on the committee he'd come home complaining about how uncommonly stupid she was. She asked inane questions that frankly embarrassed the other members of the committee. It makes a meeting really difficult when somebody asks something so vapid... yet you have to answer it in a way that doesn't insult them. But some questions are impossible to answer without popping that bubble.

Not only is Patty the dumbest person ever elected to public office, she will retain that title for centuries. She has the mental faculties of about a six year old. I think it is highly likely that she suffers from at least a mild mental handicap of some sort. I see some downs-syndrome features in her face, and I think that explains a lot.

I've got nothing against those with downs-syndrome, but they don't need to be Senators.

True, Murray is a mom. You could also describe Hitler as a "war veteran and painter," but I think the more salient fact is that he was a German dictator.

You gotta love Ann.

She is one idiotic woman, that’s for sure. However, she was caught up in a wave during the Year Of The Woman.

Ha! 1992 will look like child’s play compared to 2010!

And, there will be real conservative women involved this time...

I defy anyone to produce something stupider ever uttered by a homo sapiens. Not Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden or even John Edwards can hold their dimly lit candles to her.

Stiff competition there but Murray wins!

One of Ann's best columns.

Yes, Osama was out building "day-care facilities" -- and probably sponsoring "Bring Your Daughter to Work" days! I defy anyone to produce something stupider ever uttered by a homo sapiens. Not Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden or even John Edwards can hold their dimly lit candles to her.

Perfect.

And yet, many think these deliberative dolts would make excellent presidents. There’s a reason why Obama is the pretty near the only person elected from the Senate to the presidency, while most presidents come from the governors’ mansions.
The only time a senator wins the presidency is when he is opposed by another senator. Sole exception: Warren G. Harding was opposed by the governor of his own state (Ohio), and won in a post-WWI landslide. No Democrat was going to win that year . . .

No senator has ever defeated a sitting president. And yet the GOP persists in nominating people like Dole and and McCain and (yes, it has to be said) Nixon and Goldwater who have no big-time executive experience in their resume.

If you are not nominating a governor
(or a renowned general like Ike)

you are not serious about winning
the presidential election.
