Schwarzenegger blasts big oil over Prop 23

SANTA CLARA, CA (KGO) -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is blasting the backers of an effort to suspend the state's landmark global warming legislation that signed it into law four years ago.

California's global warming law AB32 is a big part of Schwarzenegger's legacy. He is campaigning to stop Proposition 23, the November ballot measure that would suspend AB32.

The governor told the Commonwealth Club audience that oil companies Valero and Tesoro are spending millions to promote Prop 23 with a bogus jobs argument.

"Does anyone really believe that these companies out of the goodness of their black oil hearts are spending millions and millions of dollars to protect jobs?" Schwarzenegger asked.

The governor says California's global warming laws are creating the economy of the future.

"Billions of dollars in green venture capital has come to our state; the bottom line is we are creating action here in this state," he said.

Asked about Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman's recent decision to oppose Prop 23, the governor chided Whitman for not doing more.

"I want her to spend money spend her millions of dollars against Prop 23, that's real action," Schwarzenegger said.

Schwarzenegger blasts big oil, defends climate law

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday blasted the out-of-state oil companies that are trying to undermine California’s global warming law, saying they are motivated purely by greed.

Companies such as Valero Energy Corp., Tesoro Corp. and Koch Industries are spending millions of dollars to manipulate the will of Californians and “buy votes,” the Republican governor told the Commonwealth Club.

Their motivation, he said, is “self-serving greed.”

The governor warned that the passage of Proposition 23 would have repercussions far beyond California.

“This is not just about California; it is about America’s economic prosperity and leadership in the years ahead,” he said of the climate law. “California is America’s last hope for energy change.”

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is living proof that having Big Muscles and Big Brains is a rare, rare occurrence among politicians!

Unfortunately, it looks like Kalifornia is not likely to see improved leadership anytime soon!

So now he is concerned about the will of the people what about the gay marriage issue which we the people of California voted on twice only to have our will thorwn out like a dirty dishrag and Arnold said nothing about it as a matter of fact he supports gay marriage and was glad the will of the peole was overturned him and pretty boy Newsome. What a jerk. And AB32 was not passed by the people it was passed by the liberal socialst democrats who have the majority in California.

The amount of money being spent by regional governments to prepare for implementation is the only economy being created.

Next, local governments will have to live with target numbers that will be handed to the for green house gas emmission reductions.

For municipalities to comply, there must be significant changes in land use planning and transportation. General plans will need to be changed - that can cost $100,000 to $300,000. Then comes implementation.

There is not money at the local level for implementation and there is not money in Sacramento to help cities comply.

California used to be 6 months ahead of the rest of the USA... now they are about 6 months behind.

Remember when there were actually Republicans who spoke of a Constitutional amendment to remove the native-born requirement for President?

Specifically because every Republican was utterly enamoured, of Arnold the ... FAKE.

Wasn’t that long ago, in fact.

I heard it long before then, when someone wanted Henry Kissenger to take a shot.

The Founders were wise men indeed.

The Emperors New Clothes.

Arnie, I hate to tell you, Bubba, but your unemployment keeps heading south. Whoever is telling you that billions of dollars in green venture capital is helping is lying through their teeth. The only "action" all that supposed venture capital is doing is creating 10-1 odds that you're not being taken for a ride.

Mr. Schwarzenegger, would you kindly show a single economy in the world improved by these climate bills?

Let’s be honest here. While you’re blasting ‘black oil’ for funding the campaign to stop the enforcement of AB23, the unions are backing it. Which unions? The autoworkers? No, they’re all gone in the state. The truckers? They’re still trying to figure out how to install solar panels on their trucks so they don’t burn up in the heat wave because they’re not permitted to run their engines while sitting in nearly 120 degree heat...

But government unions are all gung ho for this legislation, because that’s the only jobs it creates. Government flunkies to walk around telling everyone that they’re doing things wrong and oh, by the way, here’s your fine.

The only ‘green’ jobs are the ones that live off of our money taken from us by force.

Rather than going on shooting your mouth off about something you don’t understand, how about you sit down with those same union flunkies and spell out the truth. That this state couldn’t ever support these outrageous benefits that the unions have traded for their votes, that benefits to government employees will exceed the budget for everything else, and exceed the entire state budgets of previous governors just in total amounts paid for government employee wages and benefits.

That every road being built, every dam being maintained, every state park is being funded by vapor money, because the unions have sucked every last dollar out of the system, creating the highest taxes of any state at any point in history.

You’re worried about your ‘legacy.’ Your legacy is that the people voted you in to STOP this crap, and you simply waved it on through. Aww, but they clap so nicely for you at those speeches...all those union employees who are there at public expense.

Arnie's working for his wealthy globalist pals and their “need” for some trillions from the US Treasury in the cap and trade carbon commodities scam. He is a nightmare.
