Take the Fight to the Democratic Party
American Thinker ^ | Sept 27, 2010 | Bruce Walker

What would happen if conservatives targeted several dozen relatively weak leftist Democrats in states or districts conductive to the conservative message, and then sought to elect a genuinely conservative Democrat (recruited, of course, within the ranks of the conservative movement)? What would happen if conservatives decided in 2012 to unify behind an articulate conservative to run in the Democrat primaries and caucuses against Obama? Let the small leftist minority in America worry about not just losing a general election, but a primary: what would that do to the appeal of leftism in our political system? It would raise the profound issues we face about partisanship into the realm of fundamental political philosophy. Forcing both political parties, internally, to confront conservative candidates and voters would sap the left and strengthen the right.

This is one person looking at some long range strategic options for ridding us of fascists once and for all, but I don't agree. I'm for permanently ridding ourselves of the democrat party to the extent that it doesn't even figure in national elections. What do you think? Is there a case to be made for NOT working to completely destroy and eliminate the democrat party once and for all?

I think there’s too much money funneled into the Dem Party to really destroy it short of them pulling a Nazi Party and taking over absolute power.

The only way to get them is to infiltrate, corrupt, deflect and remold their party until it becomes “Conservative Lite”. Then, and only then, will they be cut off from funding *and* votes.

As the Republicans failed to learn, nobody votes for a *Lite* version of the other party, and that’s why the Centrist/Leftist Republicans continue to fail of election.

'Democrat' and 'Republican' are just names. Jefferson was a Democrat. So was Reagan, until he realized that the party no longer represented his beliefs—not because he had changed, but because they party had.

Many voters don't really have any political philosophy, and vote (D) or (R) for hysterical reasons. Others vote for whatever candidate they like as a person.

If the anti-Constitutionalist can take over the Democrat party from the Jefferson-like leaders it had at its inception, another group can do the same.

I’ve thought the same thing as the author for some time. There are many within the Democrat party who would never vote for any Republican, largely because of their ignorance of the two parties’ histories, but who WOULD vote for a more socially conservative, but fiscally liberal Democrat.

Remember how Proposition 8 was passed in California by the same electorate who voted for Obama. Many Democrats are equally uncomfortable with issues of abortion, illegal immigration, national decline, etc.

Nevertheless, this is a petty Rovian, nickel and dime approach to achieve razor thin, contested gains based on defense. Basically, it goes for the capillaries instead of the jugular.

The real gain is made by ADVANCING conservative philosophies, agendas and laws.

Just how many socially conservative Democrat representatives or Senators are “left” these days?

“Just how many socially conservative Democrat representatives or Senators are “left” these days?”

None, so far as I can tell. Not one. There are some in their rank and file though. Even those are fewer though, after the PUMA movement and the past two years of economic and social blight.

Then they will ultimately gravitate towards the right.

There is no problem with painting a party with a broad brush when it is gone totally insane.

The tea party left, or democrat.

Yes, it should be part of the tea party. There should be tea party left policies. Antiwar would be good.

This is based on a false premise. There are no conservative RATs. They have all been converted, driven out or become RINOs.

I think that this is one person with some innovative ideas.

There is no way to eliminate the Democratic Party from America–they have been here since the 1820s, and their first raison d’être was to uphold and even increase slavery in the United States.

They still want us all to be slaves–blacks, whites, browns, and indeed everyone that they can lay their hands on, and that is all of us.

Since we can’t eliminate them clearly it is best to convert them–yes every election locally and nationally should have a conservative Democrat running against the life-threatening soul eating ultraliberal Democrat–that’s the way to split the vote,

…and that’s the way to isolate the 15% of America who would vote for a Democrat even if he or she were a confessed murderer- oops, my mistake, They already did this, and his name was Teddy Kennedy.

The Democrat Party has been taken by the Communists. They achieved one of their long term goals. Now they are about the business of destroying free enterprise and controlling the means of production.

Actually the way to do it is to give Obama a primary challenge from the left, like Carter had Kennedy dogging him in 1980. Democrats are complaining Obama is too conservative, moderate or weak.

A conservative wouldnt have a chance in a democrat primary.
