The Democrats Melt Down
Weekly Standard ^ | September 25, 2010 | William Kristol

Posted on 09/25/2010 5:30:22 AM PDT by libstripper

It would be unbecoming for us at The Weekly -Standard—we do have to uphold standards, after all!—to chortle with glee as the Democratic party melts down. It would be unkind to whoop at the top of our lungs as Obama White House big shots quit or get fired, and to cheer with gusto as the GOP leadership behaves sensibly, the Tea Party goes from strength to strength, and momentum builds towards a huge Election Day repudiation of big government liberalism.

Quite a contrast to Kristol's pessimism in 2006 and 2008.

And Bill, we “little people” deserve the credit...certainly not the Establishment Republicans. Establishment Republicans are not smart street fighters and are largely tongue-tied when confronted by the pit bull tactics of the Left. That’s why Establishment pols and pundits couldn’t believe the brashness of Sarah Palin would succeed. They were wrong, as usual.

Fiscal conservatives from both parties (and independents) have united again to confront big government and out-of-control spending.

The last time this happened, it was under Reagan’s leadership. Today, it is grassroots-led and has allowed us to clearly see who is on our side and who is not.

If i wasn't for us Tea Party activists, Bill Kristol would still be kissing RINO butt. For any of these inside-the-beltway types (Weekly Standard, National Review) to try and ride our coattails after demeaning us for so many months, typifies that condescending, arrogant attitude that is DC.

I was one of many who actually read parts of the Health Care debacle bill and saw more craziness than I could imagine. It woke me up. As a former benefits manager, I knew that there was no way 99% of those people on Capitol Hill had any clue as to how benefits work.

Bottom line - this ol' granny got off her rocking chair and decided to get herself down to Washington with her signs to add herself to the people count. And you know who I never saw? Bill Kristol.

No thanks to Kristol’s and Barnes’s attempt to torpedo the candidacy of Christine O’Donnell.

I will not forget, guys.

Kudos to you and all the other TEA Party patriots who showed the nation that this was not simply a fringe movement, as the msm tried to portray it.

Agreed...these establishment Republicans are part of the problem.

If they stiff us again as they did in ‘95 there will be a rush to form a third party.

State party bigwigs in Wisconsin honestly feel that their establishment views are responsible for this big turnaround in public sentiment against liberals. Some of the county chairs want nothing to do with TEA parties and refuse to acknowledge that it’s the grassroots fire, started by TEA parties, is the reason for the coming donkey-kicking.

Yes, the self-congratulatory tone of this article is simply laughable. Reminds of me of Romney's endorsement of O'Donnell after she kicked Castle to the curb. "Look, everybody, me too! Me too!"

We will come back stronger and better than ever before. Twenty months of cooped up innovation, brilliance, and sheer American genius will resurge again. We ARE exceptional, because we will have the founding fathers to guide us out of the wilderness. It will be an age of new-found hope and optimism and will propel us right through the 2012 elections.

“IN SPITE OF you & yours, Mr. Kristol.”

Precisely. Now that the people are exerting their will on DemonRats and RINOS and GoAlongRepubs, the Establishment GOP types want to bask in in the glow of self-importance.

Dear Mr. Kristol,
This is not your victory. You have no right to gloat. Let’s see you get behind Jim Demint as the next Majority Leader and Paul Ryan as the next Speaker of the House. And let’s see you start the bandwagon rolling for TERM LIMTS in both the House and the Senate. Two terms in the House and ONE TERM in the Senate!!! Blow out all these career politicians who need my money to buy votes. Let’s see the ruling class step up and do the right thing.

Bill Kristol and his ilk are almost as bad as John "I-served-in-VietNaHm-but-my-only-real-accomplishment-is-marrying-rich-woman" Kerry with his remark that Americans are "uninformed". This from Mr. Clueless himself.

They are so afraid we barbarians are actually going to get involved they are definitely more entertaining than Colbert.

Exactly! This conservative movement is from the people. Ive had it with the scum elites..they tried to destroy this movement and its over running the slime.
Conservatives are fighting a two front war and winning...it will take awhile but the RATS,elites and RNC types are feeling the heat!

Many of us have been fighting for years and there were lots of people we never saw. Sad how bad it had to get before some people got it.

Adjourn without extending Bush’s tax cuts isn’t the worse of it. They haven’t even made an attempt at a budget.

Amazing.
