“No wonder the elite push him to run for President.”

I’m afraid you’ve got it wrong. Myth is the country club, cocktail party’s boy. They are for him because he’s pretty and they believe he can smoke the liberals into believing he’s a liberal and the conservatives into believing he’s a conservative. He’s the candidate of O’Reilly, Weekly Standard, the press, and unfortunately maybe Jim DeMint. The status quo wing of the Republican Party (the real wingnuts).

Aiee. I don’t think it’s possible to overstate how stupid that was. Imagine if he’d got caught while the hearings were going on. I think he’s a bright guy, but on some level he’s got a death wish for his career.

Newt Gingrich, the GOP version of Bill Clinton.

Except that Clinton is a far more effective politician.

That wasn’t conservative, at all. However, he saw the opportunity to get in on the global warming crap, which was gaining popularity at the time, and took it as fast as he could.

He lost me a long time before that, though....

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one, I guess. Or, maybe we are seeing the same thing, but have different definitions?

The way he flips back and forth with his so-called core values tells me he is an opportunist. He goes whichever way the wind is blowing. He was as conservative as could be when he was in the House. Then, when it appeared the left was winning, he sat himself down on Pelosi’s couch and said “green is good.”

However, now conservatism is back in vogue with a vengeance, and he wants to be President. So, he’s a conservative, once again.

I promise you this...if we go left again, he will fall right in line with them.

I think that we see him in the exact same light. He is an opportunist... you nailed that. He is not what he once portrayed himself to be or what he once was. He is untrustworthy. I lost it when he said the era of Reagan was over... I think Rush severed ties with him at that point. I think we know him pretty well! Like you said... we stated it differently.

“Repeatedly it would seem”

Newt “swam the Tiber” and converted to Catholicism recently.

He likes the Kennedy model of politics, I guess.

Someone must have told him he could still get a marriage annulled. Just in case.

I meant "carry water" in the old sense of "carrying the chamber pot"...which I thought was an apt double-meaning of the muck that you were spreading that the Dems would love. I don't mean to impugn your character or integrity--I'm writing of the effects, not motives.

And I recognize that you weren't equating it with Clinton's assault, but were just reporting on Newt Gingrich...and I'm not against the truth being out there. I just hate that the Dems twist things.

BTW, thank you for your service.

I agree with your points but my point was that he looks like someone who can be easily compromised which is why he is being positioned to run for office whereas someone with a more upstanding character would not be as easily corrupted or compromised - those sorts of folks are often attacked by the elites as we have seen with the Rand Paul & Ron Paul.

Excellent point! He absolutely is untrustworthy. He has no core values...but he is very convincing to some.

You and Rush may have severed ties to him when he said that about Reagan, but I severed ties to him when he was forced to surprise us by “leaving” his job as a Representative...and Speaker of the House...because of his “problem” with his “wife.”

BTW...those problems were of his own making...

He’s no Reagan...though he would like for us to believe he is, and that’s what I’ve seen him to try to portray himself to be.

I hope no one falls for it.
