Gingrich Admits to Affair During Clinton Impeachment
ABC News ^ | 3/12/07, 11:08 AM EDT | JAKE TAPPER

Gingrich married his second wife, Marianne Ginther, months after he divorced Battley in 1981. According to Battley, Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery.

"There are things in my own life that I have gotten on my knees and turned to God and prayed about," Gingrich said.

Gingrich also acknowledged cheating on Ginther while leading the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton for allegations of perjury involving the Paula Jones sexual harassment civil case and the president's affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Gingrich argued that the Clinton case was different from his personal transgressions.

"The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge," he said, arguing that Clinton had "deliberately committed perjury."

Constantly espousing family values even while he carried on an affair, Gingrich linked his party to wholesome family values and Democrats to, well, something else.

Gingrich divorced Ginther in 2000 and soon married his third wife, Callista Bisek, a former congressional aide who was in her 20s when she and Gingrich began their affair.

Conservatives demand leaders that adhere to stronger rules of conduct.

You might as well demand golden pizza with unicorn sausage. Politicians are whore mongers.

Newt Gingrich is dead to me, because he is a phony with respect to spiritual, personal and political behavior. JMHO I trust Newt NOT!

I completely and totally agree with that.

If the republicans select Gingrich or Romney they might as well just skip the process all together and nominate Obama. I, for one, won't be voting for any more RINOs...the GOP has taught me that lesson.

A man with no moral fiber.

He thinks in abstractions.

True is old news, but the Left and its media are going all out to showcase a takeover of the Republican Party by the Tea Party., called the The New Fundamentalists. However, there are always some late comers to any party, so a refresher course in hypocrisy is being revisited.

The left always likes to show that the theocratic Christian fundamentalist ideology is not safe from some of the like scandulous actions "expected and accepted" from the Left.

Clinton was president at the time, so should be more scrutinized because he could have easily fallen into a like espionage circumstance as the Communists Lured To Their Deaths By MI6 With Promise Of Sex related scnarios. This becomes a national security issue, while Newt's shortcomings do not. But the old glass house analogy definitely comes into play.

What they fail to recognize is that the country as in majority has revolted and turned on the old network, Right & Left for their actions or in-actions in job losses, massive debt/spending and no solutions in site.

November should shock them even more. But the Democrats fall into becoming the biggest losers under Pelosi, Obama, Reid, Schumer, Frank & the usual out their hiding and staying as far away from any media spotlight that they can.

The Mormons, fundamentalist sect First Church of Latter Day Saints, are getting their share of Movie Made For ...of late as well as in The 19th Wife.

Fundamentalists, the new Buzz word, coming from the Left.

Some group will probably revist a bounty idea for any dirt that can be found within the Tea Party, like the Texans for Truth (Bush's military service) did before the backfire and fall of Dan Rather for Freeper Buckhead's midnight uncovering of those infamous fruadulent memos (font).

This is where I disagree with many Freepers.

I don’t care about Newt’s personal life, unless it has something to do with national security.

Its the Democratic trap. Its DC and all these Congress members are in DC for months at a time and we are surprised if one of them have an affair? Oh, please!

Its OK for Clinton to have affairs, but Republicans can’t because Republicans scream about their own. How about saying “Its none of your business!”

We will lose every time.

He’s more like Elizabeth Taylor. . . he marries his loves. I agree, however, that he’s probably never going to win any election. He’d better accept some role behind the scenes.

Did you happen do see the @sshole Geraldo? He was showing clips from 1987 when he did a story about DEVIL worshippers and likening it to Christine and her dabbling in witchcraft clip. Devil worship and witchcraft are synonymous now??? Geraldo is a total moron.

Newt is not trustworthy. Any man who cheats on his wife and is not repentant cannot be trusted...

Well you should have the mod/admin change the publish date. You put in today’s date.

I mean if you just wake up (like me and Post #53) and read it you would never know it was from 3 1/2 years ago. You put in today’s publish date, no flashback, opening editorial, etc.

Personally, I can’t stand Newt and think he’s a RINO fraud, but this post is really not fair. It’s from 3/12/2007.

"There are things in my own life that I have gotten on my knees and turned to God and prayed about," Gingrich said.

Repeatedly it would seem.

Time moves on and things change. Back then we were focused on what Newt was doing, but today we'd look at a woman who'd been a school teacher for a young man she seduced (and then married) and suggest she be imprisoned.

See what happens to those young men when their female teachers betray their trust!

I think we need to shift the conversation away from Newt's libido and onto Battley's criminal conduct!

Anyone know if that woman had a motorcycle? Did she pose on it exposing thing up to the bikini line?

We need pictures!

Horaldo was doing the devil thing BACK WHEN the witchcraft thing was going on.

Do you think it rubbed off or something?

Recall there was a flurry of such activity at the time.
