U.S. Capitol Police officers shot a man Friday morning after he allegedly pointed a gun directly at them. The suspect's condition was immediately known, according to a statement by Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider.
Officers received a radio alert around 5 a.m. that an armed man was in the vicinity and located him at 2nd and C Street SW.
"Fearing for their lives, officers fired their weapons," Schneider said.
The suspect was transported to a hospital...

DC police of any sort are probably trained to “fear for their lives” if they see a child drawing a picture of a gun.
This was not the DC police.
then again, most le officers are not going to stand idle hoping they can convince a lunatic to drop a gun.

Gun + You + Pointed it at a cop = They shoot you dead
i once saw a man point a gun at the police who detained him because he robbed a bank. they did not even fire (they were scared crappless trying to remember their instruction).

that incident occurred in danvers massachusetts, on endicott street.
