Back when he was writing for the Weekly Standard, Brooks was their most shallow, insubstantial, style-obsessed columnist — kind of a metrosexual male version of Peggy Noonan — which made him a perfect fit to be the NYT’s token “conservative”.

Brooks is too liberal for even The Weakly Standard’s milquetoast establishment small “r” republican tastes.

I like Krauthammer at times, but he's a neo-con too, just like David Brooks and the previous token conservative on the NY Times editorial page, his former employer, William Kristol, and arguably even his predecessor as the 'right guy' on the left page, William Saffire. And Brooks, like David Frum, the other famous neo-conservative edging back toward the Democratic party, he's also ... a Canadian.

I guess those blackmail photo’s the Clinton’s dug up, haven’t outlived their usefulness.....
Does Brooks believe anybody buys either his “Republican” label or his “More Gov’t, Higher Taxes” pitch?

with that punchline I was expecting the byline to be Mel or Albert Brooks

Brooks needs a brain transplant.
He has lost his mind.
Don’t ever tell me again that man is Conservative!!!!!

Now, that’s funny, though the part near the end where he rationalizes their having been so wrong (”attuned to the latest social trends”) reminds me too much of the way RiNOs I know actually think to be funny.

If Brooks is Canadian, that explains a lot. A Conservative Canadian is one that is left of Harry Read. Liberals in Canada are even further left than Dems and the NDP is an unabashed party of the union worker.
