Ground Zero mosque Imam blames Sarah Palin for 'growing Islamophobia'

The Muslim cleric behind plans to build a mosque close to the Ground Zero site has blamed politicians such as Sarah Palin for fuelling a "growing Islamophobia" that led to the burning of Korans on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

The Reverend Terry Jones abandoned his "international burn a Koran day" in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday but there were isolated instances in Tennessee and New York of the Muslim holy book being set alight.

"What has happened is that..certain politicians decided that this project would be very useful for their political ambitions," Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said, adding that this had prompted a "growing Islamophobia" in the US.

Imam Rauf's proposal for an Islamic Centre, containing a mosque, two blocks from the site of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centre, has become embroiled in controversy.

Mrs Palin was the first major national figure to get involved in what had been a localised dispute when she sent a Twitter message in July stating: "Peace-seeking Muslims, pls understand, Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing."

Imam Rauf said Mrs Palin's intervention had been "disingenuous" and played a part of the issue being "hijacked by the radicals" over the summer.

Pretty good indicator that obama and the dems are in cahoots with this imammaf**ker...he's become part of the the orchestrated attack on obama's biggest fear - Sarah Palin.

There are plenty of people saying a lot worse things about islam than Sarah, but this sultan of succotash has singled her out, thereby putting himself in the "attack Palin" gang.

Just leave those libs alone long enough, and they will 'out' themselves.

Imam Rauf, oh boo frickin hoo. You’re afraid of Sarah Palin now? The good Imam is trying to win favor with his leftist supporters - he must be getting desperate.

Palin has had nothing to do with this whole mess in NY...but if I were Sarah I’d take the Imams comments as a badge of honor...

Reasons for Islamophobia:

1) Islamics who strap bombs to their bodies and use these devices on buses, in shopping malls, in marketplaces, in and out of the Muslim world.

2) The stoning of women for such crimes as being raped, and treating women as property.

3) The imprisoning or hanging of homosexuals, or those suspected of being homosexuals.

4) The crime of being Christian, of owning a bible, which can result in a death sentence in some Muslim countries.

5) Oh, yeah, the piloting of four airplanes full of innocent civilians into the twin towers, the pentagon and into the landscape of Virginia. The bombing of the planes around the world, the taking of passenger ships. And the shooting of fellow soldiers.

I can not imagine a single person on the whole of the planet who would develop Islamophobia from any statement from an American politician. You yourselves are to blame for it, and I’m personally tired of hearing the whining.

Just imagine, Mr. Little Iman, if one of your terrorist recruiting stations/temples decided to burn bibles. Think they could do it, or would it be cancelled because of some radical threat from those who are supposedly not representative of the religion? It could happen each and every day, and no one would come by and explode, killing dozens, on the sidewalk.

Yet just the simple threat of doing it to a Quran is a worldwide news story, with violent protests in Islamic nations and threats of suicide bombers to stop it.

Oooh, yeah, it’s /all/ Sarah Palin who is behind this. Not your death cult of a so called religion which glorifies pedophilia, slavery, and violence towards all other religions.

Grow up.

Maybe Obama will have a “Halal Food Summit” with Palin and the Imam, because he and the Imam have acted stupidly. Hair Plugs Biden’s attendence is optional.

One would be a fool not to fear a totalitarian, exclusivist, absolutist, and violent cult that says “convert, become a 2nd class citizen, or die”.

Islamophobia is a good thing.

Islam must be reformed by Muslims. Failing that, it must be purged from the west, or freedom and liberty will cease to exist.

Well, heck, you gotta blame somebody.

Sure couldn't have anything to do with that little 1400-year spree of killing, burning, looting, destroying civilizations, cutting off heads; or in more recent years, spontaneously exploding Achmeds in the village square.

Uh, oh. This isn’t going to sit very well with Todd! :-O

And I’d love to see this ‘disingenuous’ ‘holy man’ who wants to
‘heal the divide’ between muslims and non-muslims issue a fatwa on the Palins—may God keep them safe from harm!

(And the fact that they are proficient with guns won’t hurt either...)

These benighted characters have their heads stuck so far up their *sses, they can wear their turbans for scarves.

“Growing Islamophibia” is due exclusively - as in ONLY - to the insane violence and homicidal mania of these loud-mouthed jackals.

The problems with the koran burning and the WTC Mosque

In all this argument of recent days, the most important fact of the matter has been obvious from the start, but is rarely spoken of by the media or the public.

Regarding the Florida koran burning, has anyone stepped back and listened to what people are saying in detail? The first thing a person will hear is how that Pastor has the Constitutional right to do what he is doing.

The next series of statements, however, are always the majority of statements made in these conversations, namely: It is the wrong thing to do, it is inciteful, it is a cult in Florida, muslims will hate us, it will endanger the troops, and, most importantly for this conversation: we are not at war against a religion, but extremists of that religion.

This is important because of the islamic world’s reaction to this Florida Pastor; namely, that the islamic world immediately protested the planned koran burning by condemning the entire country of the United States and marched and chanted promoting our deaths to cries of “DEATH TO AMERICA!”

The response by virtually all American politicians has been an apologetic tone, one where they immediately call for the koran burning to stop, observations that it IS inciteful and that the threats to Americans at home and American Troops abroad are not acceptable and that the safety of the American public are paramount in this case.

Their tone has been to cower in fear at these threats. Not one politician has stepped forward and exclaimed, “Islam is not being attacked by an entire country or an entire religion, Islam is only being attacked by a radical. Islam needs to remember we are not all against Islam and threats to our safety are wrong and inciteful and hate filled.”

Not one. They cower to the islamic world, refuse to hold them to the same standard of behavior as they insist from their own people, refuse to insist that the Pastor in Florida is an anomaly and that the United States is no threat to islam.

What they did was bow in submission to the sensitivities of the islamic world and deny the Florida Pastor his civil rights to speak out like an American.

The islamic world will not notice. They will riot anyways. It is identical to the cartoonists in Denmark. All it took was one cartoonist to make a cartoon of Muhammad and the entire islamic world was in the streets and threatening to kill anyone who makes a cartoon of Muhammad.

Theo Van Gogh made a movie about this islamic submission in Holland, and they killed him for making the movie.

The Florida Koran burning case is quite similar to the Ground Zero mosque case with some significant differences. In Florida, the Pastor must stop his koran burning or there will be violence across the globe, and in fact, even if he does stop, there will be violence across the globe due to him stating he wanted to burn korans. In New York City, the Imam who wants to build a mosque 2 blocks away from Ground Zero, he said on CNN that if we move the mosque or deny it’s construction, there will be violence across the globe.

In both cases, if we do not submit to islamic sensitivities, there will be violence across the globe, in fact, even if we do submit to islamic sensitivities, there will most likely be violence anyways due to the fact that we spoke of those things.

Free speech is threatened in Florida, and a new twist is happening in New York City, something that Israel has seen does not work, and that is LAND FOR PEACE.

The Ground Zero mosque is about LAND FOR PEACE. If we give islam the land to make a mosque, there will be peace. If we do not give islam the land, there will be violence.

Think this through people. In both of these cases, neither has anything to do with the original concerns people expressed. It is solely about whether we submit to islamic sensitivities or have violence.

It is about Islamic blackmail of the United States.

This statement is utter nonsense! I wonder if this Muslim cleric has evidence to support his assertion? I wonder if he knows what "Islamophobia" means? He is reading from the Democrat playbook -- name calling and blaming someone else!

That's rich. Sarah Palin will pick up millions of $$$ for her Sarah PAC from this announcement. Hope the major news media jump right on it. The History Channel finally did something right by showing the horrors of 9/11 and I believe many people have had their eyes newly opened.
